And from the stage will emanate such boisterous tunes as "Unicorn", "Puff the Magic Dragon", and Lily the Pink." It's the Irish Rovers, alive and in concert at Midland Secondary on January 18. It's a rare opportunity for Midlanders to partake of the unique jovial, audience-involving sp- ectacle that is a Rovers' concert. Once the six man group gets going, there's no telling what they will transform the MSS auditorium into. Past performances though would indicate there'll be Midland Library news one big party on at MSS on January 18! Audience involvement is the key to the Irish Rovers' successes in live concerts. They draw on the music of the world as well as from their own rich Irish heritage, with drinking songs, love songs and funny songs until the audience is compelled to sing and laugh right along. The special Rovers' concert is being spon- sored by the Midland Rotary Club and proceeds will go the Club's many ongoing projects. Tickets are now on sale at a number of outlets in Midland. HOSKINS BAKERY -- ELMVALE These junior voices were pure and silvery, and their musical discipline remarkable. Working without music, the boys were totally attentive to their con- ductor. The result was perfect diction, and chillingly impressive dynamics. The tenor and_ bass choir provided a more robust sound-mellow, rich and entirely pleasing. The Chorus of The Shepherds and Kings from Ahmal and the Night Visitors was especially im- pressive-precisely sung, and again remarkable for its clear diction. They completed their portion of the program with a collection of modern Christmas songs, and the familiar Do You Hear What I hear. The young singers began the second half of the program by grouping themselves antiphonally for Lift Up Your Heads, O Ye Gates. It was a thrilling, soaring beginning for the section which included What Cheer, The Rocking Carol I Saw Three Ships, For Unto Us A Child Is Born, A Little Child So Lovely, Noel We Sing, O Holy Night, and a Christmas Medley. The audience joined with the choir too in two carols, O Come All Ye Faithful and Silent Night.
