Victoria Harbour Carnival plans by Lorraine Kindy Nominations for the Mini Bonhomme Car- naval Queen for Victoria Harbour will be accepted at Tony's or the Village Variety until Jan. 22nd, 1977. To qualify a girl myst be 13 years of age or cy 200 live in Victoria Harbour or the rural area. There will be a "Meet the Contestant Night", on Friday Jan. 28th at the Royal Cdn. Legion in Victoria Har- bour. Voting will take place at the IGA on Sat. Jan. 29th from 9 a.m. in the morning until 6 p.m. The crowning of the queen will take place Friday Feb. 4th at the : Legion. There are a lot of nice prizes involved and a lot of fun for the winner, so get out and nominate your favourite girl. Ron and Jeff Evans are down at the Boat Show in Toronto for a week, so if anyone happens to attend, drop in and see them at the Chrysler booth. On Wednesday Jan. 12th, the Victoria Har- bour and District Ladies held a Pot Luck Lunch with everything being delicious and high in calories. Seventeen ladies were present. Mrs. Helen Price treasurer's report and the ladies last year gave the Lions Club $1100.00 towards the medical centre, plus some equipment needed and had the rugs cleaned. They are waiting for new drapes that have already been ordered to dress the building up and should be there any day. Mrs. Gervais from the Senior Citizens also remarked that the refrigerator that the Senior Citizens were purchasing with their Dominion Store Tapes should be here any day. Also discussed what could be further purchased or done for the medical centre. It was suggested that perhaps landscaping with suitable parking should be the next item to work on. ° The ladies are busy quilting on their butterfly quilt now and all ladies are welcome to come in and help either Tuesday or Thursday afternoon. Ladies are also invited to come in and work on some other project for the spring bazaar. Tickets are being sold on the quilt at 25¢c each or 5 for $1.00. - The Mini Bonhomme Carnaval Committee met at the Victoria Harbour Royal Canadian Legion on Thursday Jan. 13th under the chairmanship of Mr. Bernard Leveque to further discuss the carnaval. Larry Bourgois gave his report and the snowmobile races will be held on the ice, plus parachuting and also motor bike racing will be held on the ice in front of the Sportsman. Jerry and Ann Freamo the new owners of the Sportsman were present and very enthused about the Winter Carnaval. A dance with entertainment will be held both Friday and Saturday night. The hotel will be open for guests this year. There will be a fiddlers contest and a stepdancing contest again this year, so everybody in the area that can qualify are invited to try out.
