This week we have the following book reports. Water Life Illustrator Nemo The book was about Water animals like the swans and beavers, wild geese and a lot more Did you know that if the baby swans are tired or scared the mother will carry them on her back? They also have beautiful wings Report by Vickie Cruise Monseigneur Castex Grade 3 The Ginger Bread Man Illustrator Elfrieda What this book is about This story is about a lady who wanted to make something special for her husband after dinner. She kept opening the oven to see if the Ginger Bread Man was ready. So that after supper her husband could eat it Why This Interesting This book is_ in- teresting because it shows where the ginger bread man hops on the end of the fox's tail and the water gets deeper and deeper so the ginger bread man hops on the fox's back and the water gets deeper than it was before and the fox said Water bylaw for Tay A new by-law to standardize water systems in Tay Township is in the preparatory stages and should be completed by the end of September According to David Walker, Chairman of the Tay Water Committee, the bylaw will "bring together little loose ends" such as connecting fees, and water systems in- spections. It will provide for regulations on con- nections to homes, what materials can be used in these connections. Up to now there has been no control of what materials were used in home connections, no minimum depth of laying pipes and no control of individual home shut-off valves A number of homes had problems with lines freezing up this winter, Walker said, and when water department of- ficials came to look at the problem, they discovered that plastic pipes had been used to connect homes to the municipality's water lines. Hence the need for regulations governing materials and inspections during home con- structions. Under the new bylaw, homeowners may also have to have shutoff valves installed in their homes rather than having them on the lawn. Walker cited the case where this winter a homeowner complained of a leak in his water system. When the utilities' men came to investigate, the homeowner had no idea where the shut-off valve was, only that "it was somewhere out. there under three feet of snow." The repairman had to make the repair with the water on. "We'll put the onus on the homeowner to be able to turn off his water," Walker said.
