With the teams tied 0-0 after the first period, Midland broke out for four goals in the second to take the lead and never look back. Gord Susome scored about two minutes later for Chalet, and tied the game at 13:48. Hindson Marine scored three more times before the end of the first period. Goals came from Larry Marchand at 9:07, Mike Puddicombe at 4:55 and Paul Henry again at 1:40 . The second period saw only one goal scored. Magloughlin tied the score again in the third period from Jason Baguley but Aurora came back with the game winner shortly after. Midland downed Orillia in exhibition play Sunday, as Owen Quilty scored two; unassisted goals in the second period to put Midland ahead, after Orillia had scored in the first period. Quilty's first goal came while he was on his knees in front of the Orillia net and the second rolled in on a weak shot fooling the goaltender. "The only way we had a chance tonight was if Longhorns were having a really off night shooting," said Orillia captain Ralph Cooke. Unfortunately for Cooke and his teammates however, everyone on Longhorns was having a good night with six men figuring prominently in the scoring. Dave Dubois lead all Midland shooters with 14 points and played a strong game on the boards retrieving the majority of errent shots by Orillia and making good on _ Longhorns rebounds as well. But Kings coach Paul Henry isn't predicting a sweep of the remaining two games in the series. "T wouldn't venture for one minute to say that, not in Junior C hockey, but I hope we do."' Kings announced their intentions for Wed- nesday's game in the 42 seconds of play as the club's leading scorer all season, John St . Amant, tallied to put Kings ahead 1-0. Ross Prentice and Mare Duquette laid the ground work for the goal that beat Shamrocks' goaltender George Edwards. Kings pumped seven more goals past Edwards and finally drove him from the net in the second period. Henry praised all of his players for their work in the game, including Vince Decola who showed signs of a return to his former scoring prowess with two goals. Brad Quinn assisted on four goals in the game for Midland's second four- point performance. Other goal scorers were Dwayne Storey, Kim Lavigne and Pierre Belanger. Steve Friesen turned aside all shots on the Midland goal to earn the shutout. No less than seven Midland players figured in the scoring with one assist or more. The first quarter was tight, both defensively and offensively, with the score at the end of that quarter 12-10. for the Crusaders. Elmvale sneaked into the lead in the second quarter using their very capable _ ball-handler, Albert LaRose. LaRose managed to evade the Crusaders defence for most of the quarter, making the score at half time 25-20 for Elmvale The Crusaders recognized Elmvale's LaRose as being a serious threat, and they covered him with two defenders in the. second half.
