acres otk Ui 'Fonanure s Edgar Campbell Beking Yiu Beking Yiu, son of Henry Yiu of Elmvale, is an eight-year-old boy who would like to have three children when he gets older. As for being a father, with his kids and he's sure he wouldn't spank them. He'd give them plenty of spending money, would ride them on his shoulders and would not send them "Our children were easy to raise. We just kept them busy, and on a farm there was always plenty of work to keep them going," said Edgar Campbell, age 86 of Wyevale. Mr. Campbell's children, Bert, Victor and Lorna were born in £9216 23) ands 30) respectively and were raised on a farm on the 3rd Concession of Tiny, where the Campbells lived for 49 years. Bert works for the Township of Tiny,-Victor owns a cement company in Wyevale and Lorna is employed at the Ontario Mental Health Centre in Penetanguishene. "None of our children were any trouble,' he said, "we fed them well, good, basic farm fare and if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change anything," he said. "Children these days have a free rein and some of the fault could lie with the parents,"' he stated. He noted though that parents these days have to deal with the influence of television on their youngsters whereas in their day, there were only radios to deal with. Mr. Campbell still remembers vividly the day he moved into his farm on the third. It was April 17, 1917 a full two years before he settled down and married his wife of 63 years, Hazel. Two years later the children began arriving. Today Mr. Campbell can boast of the three children still alive and well as well as nine grandchildren. He is still active in the working community, and is employed by his youngest son Victor in Wyevale. "I'm_ the cheapest man he's got over there too," he said. As for tips to young parents raising children these days, Mr. Camp- bell had only one suggestion. "Make them toe the scratch," he said. Apparently it works.
