Intermediate softball action Penetang Juveniles take over first, Midland ties for third Penetang Juveniles have taken over first place in Ladies Inter- mediate Softball action, beating Penetang G and C Wednesday evening 8- 6 at McGuire Park. Before the game, both Penetang clubs had identical 5-0 season records. Behind the strong pitching of Nancy Bell, the Juveniles knocked out 25 hits over seven innings. G and C used three pitchers in an effort to slow down the Juveniles' hitting spree. The Penetang G.and C team jumped into a quick 3-0 lead, but the Juveniles -- together only three months under coach Doug Stewart -- hit back with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, and another three in the fifth. Dale Butt took the loss for G and C, but her team mates had 29 hits. The Juveniles managed to kill their opponents' scoring chances, stranding many runners on base. The Juveniles travel to Christian Island this Sunday and G and C ' goes to Port McNicoll next Tuesday for their seventh game of the season. Midland wins too Midland Therriens picked up their third win of the year, beating Phelpston 10-9 in another game Wed- nesday evening. Down 9-8 going into the bottom of the seventh and last inning, the Therriens brought in two runs to grab the win from Phelpston. The two teams are now tied for third spot in the standings with 3-3 records. The Midland Y's Men's Club will again be sponsoring a summer camp at Little Lake Park this year. The camp offers' three separate programs: playground for ages 5-7, day camp for ages 8-11 and Adventure Camp for ages 12-15. The programs include fun activities for children such as arts and crafts, nature studies, swimming lessons, canoeing, games and_ special events. Summer camp begins July 7 and lasts until Aug. 15. Children registering need not be YMCA members. Registrations are now being taken at the YMCA at Little Lake Park. Schedule for Huronia Fitness Project The Huronia Fitness Project, sponsored by Tiny Township, gets underway June 23-25 with a workshop at the Lafontaine community centre. Testing will provide assessments on body fat, blood pressure, heart attack risk, grip strength flexibility, strength and endurance. The workshops will also give individualized consulting.
