Warne of St. John's United Church, Victoria Harbour. At a special get-together held at Victoria Harbour to say good-bye to Rev. Oliver Maloney, many special guests were present for the occasion along with the new parish priest. Shown from left are: Rev. Charles St. Mary's long-time pastor leaves parish by Sue Charlebois VICTORIA HARB- OUR -- Parishioners here last Wednesday night once again said goodbye to someone who had served them devotedly and faithfully for almost a decade. Rev. Oliver Maloney, pastor of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Victoria Harbour, was honored at a special get-together where his friends came to bid their farewells. Father Maloney who came to the community in October of 1971 leaves to settle for his new position as pastor at St. Paul's in Alliston. Special invited guests who attended included Rev. Charles Carter, St. Paul's_ Presbyterian Church, Victoria Harbour; Reverend K. and Mrs. Warne, St. John's United Church, . Victoria Harbour; Rev. E. Marchant, Martyrs' Shrine, and Doug Jackson reeve of the village. Children from St. Mary's School -- also attended. They delighted the priest with a number of vocal selections. After one special dedicated lyric, Father Maloney was presented with a generous purse from his parishioners in their deep appreciation of all he had done during his nine year stay. The evening also provided a chance for the parishioners to meet their new priest, Rev. F. Wiley. As Father Wiley addressed the gathering Mrs. G. DesChenes said, "Father tonight you may feel like a stranger but tomorrow you will feel right at home." Father Maloney came to Victoria Harbour after serving as pastor at St. Thomas Aquinas, Toronto. He has been pastor in seven different parishes discover he had "inherited"? new ap- pliances. He also told of warm associations he has had with other faiths. "I came to know the people and admire them." As the priest walked around the hall visiting with friends it was clear he was proud of his long association with the people of St. Mary's. and has also spent four years at St. Michael's Hospital Toronto as Chaplain during his 33 years in the priesthood.
