Gee...thanks for the ball Ball hockey isn't just for guys as these gals proved last weekend at the Penetanguishene arena. They are the only all-girls ball hockey team in the area meeting every Sunday afternoon to compete against each other and to have some good fun. Media team goes down swinging by Murray Moore It rained early Tuesday morning when it should have rained early Monday evening - if you were a member of The Media baseball team playing' the UnCivil Servants, the team fielded, by the Midland 'Student Employment Centre. The two teams tied 11-11 in 10 innings in their first meeting two weeks earlier. The UnCivil Servants won 18-16 in seven in- nings on the strength of the long ball that regularly sailed over the heads of constantly backpeddling fielders. The Media came on in the last two innings but the game had a 8:30 deadline before the start and the players from The Times, Penetang Citizen, Free Press and radio station CKMP couldn't beat both the other team and the clock. The scoring was in sharp contrast to the first meeting where The Media went ahead in early innings only to be caught and tied in the ninth. Monday evening The Media machine was down 6-1 after one in- ning, and 11-1 after two innings at Huron Park School. The Media added three in the third while the UnCivil Servants stood pat. A gain for The Media of three in the fourth to one for the Servants was quickly cancelled in the fifth. Six runs for the summer bureaucrats against only two for. the newshounds put the UnCivil Servants at a comfortable 18-9 position. The Media gained four in the sixth and three in the seventh while holding their opponents at bay, but fell two runs short, failing the beat the clock.
