Mink Insurance by a score of 6-5 in Penetang-Midland Ball Hockey Senior Division action. In only their first year playing in the Ladies Intermediate Softball League, the Juveniles have been in a season- long struggle with the more experienced Penetang G & © team for first spot. The two teams traded wins against each other this year but Penetang G & C lost its final season game to third place Phelpston Wed- nesday night to go 12-2 on the season. Phelp- ston beat G & C 7-4 for the upset win. .: Upset ' That is good news for the Juveniles. They have two more games to play next week against the weaker division teams. Should they take both games--Christian Island on Tuesday, and Victoria Harbour Wednesday--they'll take first place over G & C by two points. After demolishing Victoria Harbour 30-5 Monday night, Penetang G & C needed a win Wednesday against Phelpston to wrap up first place with 26 points. They didn't get it, losing 7-4. Phelpston pitcher Bunny White struck out seven G & C batters, allowing them just six hits through seven in- nings. G & C jumped into a 3-0 first inning lead, only to go behind 6- 3 at the bottom of the third. Phelpston got 11 hits off pitchers Michelle Lacroix and Dale Butt. They also drew 12 walks to load the bases time and time again. The Phelpston victory keeps them in a tie for third spot with Midland Therriens. Midland edged Sturgeon Bay Wednesday night 8-7 to stay alive. Perfect finish Next Wednesday's final game for Phelp- ston and Midland should be a classic. They line up against each other in Phelpston to decide third and fourth spots. Playoffs begin July 27. In action Monday, Port MeNicoll and Christian Island played to a 4-4 tie. The game was called because of darkness. Monday, Penetang G & C took last place Victoria Harbour Commodoras to ihe cleaners, demolishing them 30-5 in just five innings. In fact, by the bottom of the third it was 30-5. G & C jumped into a 16-1 first inning lead and never looked back. It was 25-2 after the second inning.
