Jamie Robillard was elected to his third term as president of the league while Bill Puddicombe was elected vice-president, following two terms as league secretary. Paul Gravelle won election as treasurer for a second term and John St. Amant, in his first year of executive duty will serve as secretary The league which is currently in its third season fielded 10 teams from approximately . 200 members. Next meeting of the Penetang-Midland Ball > sports scene, id ee ae Hecekey League will take place in Feh., MSS golf, tennis underway The tennis club at Midland Secondary School has a new head of the tennis team. Starting as coach is MSS teacher Jeff Att- wood, who has a good chance to develop a good team with a real mixture of players. John and _ Steve Friesen will be the oldest members on the team, with the younger grades making up the rest of the team. The young players will be around for a few years, and will certainly benefit from the older players' experience. Elsewhere on the Chester Graham is handling the MSS golf team. Gerry Richard, Brian Garner and Brad Copeland will be returning from last year's team, with Dave Vener and Dan Bressette, along with Frank Mansi making up the rookies of the squad. Glenn Howard is also on the golf team, as well as the football team. Let's hope golf and football really can mix. Kate Edward and Nancy Barnett' of Midland and Michele Lackey of Wyevale competed at the fair, along with Jane Bar- nett, who joined them although she does not keep her horses at the centre. Nancy Barnett rode Tara to claim two reserve championships, one in the green division and the other in the junior division. Stone claims two firsts Michael Stone of Midland rode in the Uxbridge Fall Fair Open Hunter division recently, winning a first in hunter hack, and another first in hunter over fences. Oldtimers close, but no gold Penetanguishene~ Hotel Brule Oldtimers didn't quite catch the gold medal 'at the second annual Skugog River Shinny Tour- nament held in Lindsay over the weekend. However, they did manage to claim the silver medal after closing 3-1 to the Kit- chener-Waterloo Saints in the finals "A" division. Dave Stainton, of Penetang, scored the first goal of the season for the Oldtimers, with John Dion scoring twice in the game. Larry Leroux and Larry Marchand joined in with singles to make the game a 5-3 victory for the Oldtimers. From there, the Oldtimers went on to record two shutout games, with Nelson Robillard putting on the strong performance for Penetang. He played all four games in net. Their first shutout victory came when they met Millbrook Oldtimers, defeating them 5-0. Alvin Robillard scored twWo goals, with Chuck Hatfield, Larry Marchand, and Larry Leroux each gaining singles for their team. The Oldtimers' third game was the semi+ finals, and they showed that they fully in- tended winning the gold, as they downed the Gravenhurst Oldtimers 2-0. Chuck Hatfield and Ken Davidson each scored singles, for Penetang. , The final game was close, but un- fortunately, proved to be the downfall of Penetang. Alvin Robillard scored the only goal for Penetang, with the score 2-1 with one minute left in the third period. Penetang pulled their goalie in an attempt to tie the score, but the Saints found the open net a welcome place for the puck once more. Coach of Penetang, Stan LeClair, felt that his team played well, adding, that, "my only regret is that I wish more people from Penetang could have seen the high calibre of hockey this club displayed." However, if you were one of the people who missed the games, don't worry, you will still get a chance to see the team in action when they take on the Montreal Oldtimers at the Penetang Arena Nov. 8.
