A hard-top tent trailer went up in flames and was completely destroyed last Wed- nesday while in the backyard of Lloyd Sallows on-Grey Street. The trailer was owned by Lloyd's nephew, Thom Sallows. Lloyd's wife Dorothy had left the house at 1 p.m to go shopping on Main Street when she heard the fire siren. It was a shock, to say the least, to come home and find the firemen in her backyard. For- tunately the trailer was insured but at present the cause of the fire is unknown. Shirley Jennett and Catherine Hill are the enumerators in the Village of Coldwater, and are busy knocking on all doors to insure everyone is registered. The municipal elections will be on Nov. 10 Coldwater residents will vote for a reeve and four councillors. Cancer Society The strength of the Canadian Cancer Society lies in the voluntary service of countless men and women united in a common and com- passionate concern for cancer patients. These are the volunteers who canvas for funds, take health awareness programs into the schools, drive thousands of miles annually to transport patients to treatment centres. The foregoing is a quote from the Canadian Cancer Society's | summer publication - 'Progress Against Cancer." The cross-Canada marathon attempted by special volunteer Terry Fox is focussed on the thousands of people under medical care for cancer this year, and on the research that may help save the lives of many more Canadians who _will cancer in 1980. Although Terry has been forced by ill health to cancel his run, his challenge goes out to all Canadians to continue to donate generously to the cause, while he is engaged again in a war with his old enemy - cancer. Approximately $11,000 for this worthy cause has been raised by the Orillia and District Cancer Society. Of this amount, $225 has been donated by concerned people in the Coldwater area. Anyone who wishes to con- tribute from Coldwater may contact Kathleen Galbraith, the Canadian Cancer Society representative for Coldwater and area. Olive and Bill Wylie of River Street recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Visiting on the special day were daughter-in- law Elma Wylie of Bass Lake and grandchildren Susan and John Smith of Orillia. Special birthday greetings to Cynthia Young, a Grade 4 teacher at the Cold- water Public School. Coldwater Canadiana has added another in- teresting item to their eontract antique collection. The 1,000 forest acres of Stanley Park provided plenty of scenery for camera buffs, as did a ride on an 'aerial tramcar to the top of Grouse Mountain. Travelling by rail along the picturesque coast of Howe Sound to "Mile 0" of the old Cariboo Wagon Road, they continued by private motor coach to the '108 Ranch."
