Day sets aim on 'next rung' Alderman for Ward 1 in Midland, Bev Day, has made it official, he plans to seek re-election Nov. 10 Nearing completion of his first two years on council, Alderman Day told this newspaper earlier in the week he'll be seeking the position of deputy-reeve since "'I would deem it an honor to represent Midland at the county level.' The alderman stressed, "'I'm pleased voters placed their faith in me two years ago and have allowed me to represent them. I've tried to be fair and for the most part I think our council has done a good job."' He stated he had '*served my ap- prenticeship and now it is time to move further up the rung."' Midland Fire Department officials are treating a house fire on Fitton Street last Saturday as arson. Fire Chief Terry Lethbridge has called in a representative from Ontario Fire Marshal's Office to verify the chief's position. According to Chief Lethbridge fire was reported shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday in a dwelling at 361 Fitton St. Firefighters managed to quell the blaze which was confined to a first-floor bedroom.
