Craig Community friends gathered in the hall on Friday, Sept. 5 to wish Art and Marion Dunn good luck and happiness in their new home at Oro Friends gather to say good-bye Station. Fay Craig showed a series of slides depicting the life of the Dunn family from their early years to the present. This was made possible with help from Galbraith (Marion's _ sister), Mildred Cairns (Art's sister) and their son, Wayne Dunn. Son Bob, daughter-in-law Margo, and grandsons Robbie Grace Grenier's host wedding and anniversary fetes by Jeanne Webb Wyevale had a busy weekend -_ several important events took place. Saturday, Sept. 20 one of our Wyevale young ladies was married. Miss Deborah Anne Grenier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Grenier was given in marriage to Mr. Joseph Randall Dobbs. The very pretty wedding was solemnized in St. Patrick's Church, Phelpston, on Saturday Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. The reception following was held in the Wyevale United Church Centre. The United Church Women catered to the wedding serving a very delicious dinner. A great many of the people in the area thoroughly enjoyed the wedding dance, held in the evening at the Royal Canadian Legion in Midland. Couple will reside in Barrie. Sunday also was a busv day at _ the Greniers. The wedding wasn't enough for one weekend. Open House was held there for Mr. and Mrs. Art Dunsford, parents of Doreen Grenier, on the occasion of their 45th wedding anniversary. Many friends called to congratulate them and to wish them many more vears of happiness together. The family presented Art Becky with one of Budd Watson's famous pic- tures. Along' with friends and realtives, still there from the wedding , and others coming and going for the Open House, the day ended with 30 or more people there for a delicious buffet lun- cheon. Congratulations to Cliff and Doreen for two big performances well done. Sunday, Sept. 21 wasa very busy day for the United Church people. Their anniversary Wyevale news and -- service was held in the morning with the Waverley charge joining them. A_ lun- cheon and time of fellowship followed. A special evening service was held for the Inductionof Reverend John Locke to the Wyevale and Waverley pastoral charges. Both services were well represented from both churches. The Free Methodist congregation was invited to join them in the evening. For the Simcoe Presbytery Induction Service, Mrs. Lorna Marr did an excellent job as Worship Leader. Reverend Robert Shorten brought a very fine message and Reverend Kim S. Warne led the Induction Ser- vice itself. Several members of the Simcoe Presbytery came to share in the evening. Mr. Steve Hershey brought special music, teaching the song "We are Family" that he, along with two others, had composed. Reverend Hubert Sch- wartz of the Free Methodist Church, attended the Bishop's Renewal Conference held at Thamesford, Sept. 15-19. Ladies Keep fit Exercise Group will start meeting again on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m. at the Wyevale United Church. Sessions will be held Tuesdays from 1-2 p.m. and Thursdays from 10-11 a.m. Come out for an hour of fun, fellowship and exercise, sponsored by Wyevale Recreation Association. The cost is only 25 cents. per session. All are welcome at the Wyevale Recreation Meeting, to be held on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 8 Sunshiners take in special play bv W. Cameron The first meeting of the fall season was held Monday Sept. 8 1980 in the Elmvale Com- munity Hall with 89 in attendance. In_ the absence of Nancy O'Hallarn, the first vice- president took the meeting. Alvin Archer opened with the national anthem and two minutes of silence for Mrs. Florence Copeland. It was agreed the club would donate $100 to the Terry Fox Research Fund: Card game winners are as follows: Bridge - - Vi Carnahan and Rachel Robinson. Euchre - Vera Gilbert and Cecil French. Cribbage - Willy Cameron and Stan White. We had a welcome visitor from Orillia. Bell Canada provided transportation for 39 members to Stratford. They saw a play, ably put on by the Stratford Theatre Guild, called "The Twelfth Night" and they met the Mayor as well and had a lunch. This play was gearedfor the hard of hearing and the deaf and dumb. Mr. and Mrs. John Lougheed kindly invited our club to a corn roast at their residence on Monday' Sept. 15, weather permitting. If not, the meeting will be held at the hall as usual. Ne p.m. at the Wyevale United Church. Your ideas and help are needed for future projects. and Adam of Orillia Twp. were present at the party. Wayne Dunn is in Fort George BC and Roger has spent the summer in the Yukon. Jack Greaves ex- pressed the best wishes of the community and a presentation of a lovely swag lamp and sum of money was made. Both Art and Marion ex- pressed their thanks. Ferne Bricknell and girls are staying with the former's, parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Oades, for a few weeks prior to moving to Bob's new RCMP posting in British Columbia. Krista and Bobbi-Lynn are at- tending W.R. . Best school in the interim. We welcome Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Wilson, newly-weds, who have purchased the former Tom Dunn property. Bright little kin- dergarten faces ap- pearing on our school bus for the first time are Melinda Pigeau, Michael Sim, Ted Pratt, Chad McLeaming and Gavin Hodgson. September meeting of Craighurst Women's Institute will be held in St. John's Church Hall on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. Programme - Tweedsmuir Curator, Mary Poole. The summer has been the time for many family reunions. The Oades Family held theirs at Springwater Park with about one hundred members present. The Craigs attended the Moon Reunion at Ardtrea on August 10 at the home of Mary Hewitt. On August 31 they attended a Handy family _ get- together a the cottage of Mr. and Mrs. Herb Drury on the Severn River. Sixty-two members of the Shanahan family attended a barbecue and corn roast at the summer home of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Shanahan at Coulson on Sept. 5. The funeral was held for Mrs. Clara Fleming (nee Watkins) late of Toronto, at St. John's Anglican church on Monday, August 11. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Pettigrew of Hamilton spent some time at their home in Craighurst this summer. Harvest Service at St. John's Anglican Church will be at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21. ACW of St. John's held their September meeting at the home of Mrs. D. Booth. It was decided to hold our annual Bazaar on Wednesday, October 29 in the basement of the church.
