Hebner's Taxi downed Performance Sports 8-2 in a game that had 39 minutes in penalties. Pat Laurin scored three goals for Hebner's and Warren Duckworth scored two, as well for that team. Keith Bath scored both markers _ for Performance Sports. Other singles for Hebner's came from Ken Hamelin, Jim Patchell and Wayne Miller. Duggan's won their game aguinst Olympia Sports with Bill Smith recording both goals for Olympia. ' Duggan's ywon the game 5-2, Ron Jeffery putting in two goals for Duggan's and singles coming from Marcel Vallee, Gary St. Amand and Gary Preston. Ken Edgar and Don Lefaive each scored singles and_ Brian Phillips two goals in the game that resulted in a 4-2 victory for the Athenian Flyers over the Roadrunners. Rick Graham and St. T's midget boys win tourney in Barrie Barrie Central's seventh annual volleyball .tournament was won, by\ St. Theresa's midget boys' volleyball team, proving that they are one of the best teams in the area. The tournament held on Saturday saw twelve teams competing in Barrie. St. Theresa's was in third place after the round robin play had finished. During round robin play. they had split games with Eastview and Barrie Central. The team had also won two games against Base Borden Collegiate Institute. In the playoffs, St. Theresa's beat Park St., from Orillia to advance into the quarter finals against Midland Secondary School. Games with Midland were perhaps _ the toughest St. Theresa's had to play but they managed to_ rally together for a victory in the two game match. A bye game took them into the finals against Eastview, an_ ex- ceptionally tall team. St. Theresa's had a iot of trouble with the height difference at first, having to come from behind to win. This comeback } seemed to kill the spirit of Eastview as _ they couldn't fight off the energy of the St. tallied Gord Paul singles for the Roadrunners. Hebner's Taxi and Duggan's are now tied for first place with four points each and Olympia Sports and Athenian Flyers hold second place with two points each. Crusaders inconsistent in Scarborough Senior boys volleyball team from St. Theresa's High School in Midland travelled to David and Mary Thompson High School in Scarborough for the Earlybird Tournament Saturday. St. Theresa's had mixed success in the tour- nament, losing to David and Mary Thompson High School 15-6 and 15- 6 They then went on to lose to East Nor- thumberland 18-16 but won the next game 15-7. Against Elmira, St. Theresa's owon the first game 15-4 but lost the second game 15-7. They continued on the same inconsistent path when they met Bur- nhamthorpe to win 15-7 and lose 15-8. The team had its brilliant spots but played poorly at times. Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Melvern Isaac visited with Mr. and Mrs. Sterling McDonald of Orillia. Vasey 4-H Homemaking Report The second meeting was held at the home of Cathy Taylor on Sept. 24. The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge and then the business was dealt with. The next meeting will be held at Shaunna Fergusons on Club Y Oct As this unit is Al Appliances. Reuben C. Baetz, Minister Vasey U.C.W. Report The Vasey U.C.W. met in the Sunday School room on Wed- nesday evening Sept. 24, with 14 members and two visitors present. The president Eleanor Edwards outlined the items of interest from the official board meeting held the previous evening. Citizenship~ and Social Action reported cards sent and several visits. A motion was passed, to prepare a dinner on Nov. 1 for the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Manley Edwards. The October meeting will be held one week earlier owing to the annual bazaar being held on Oct. 29. Further plans were made for this occasion. Devotions were prepared by the Stewardship and Finance Committee, opening with prayer by Janex Smitham. The roll call was answered with a Thanksgiving verse. Scripture was read by Irene Vasey, an alternate form of scripture by Jane Smitham and Grace Sawver. An interesting reading on prayer was given by Mrs. Martha Edwards.
