In league play this past week, Athenian Flyers suffered their worst defeat in five years, losing _to Duggan's hockey club 10-1. Brian Phillips scored the only goal for the Flyers while Mike Laurin, Gary Baker and Gary Preston' each scored doubles for Duggans. Singles were recorded by Tom Borsa, Gary St.Amand, Steve McLellan and Mike Huffman. Roadrunners ran over Performance Sports in the next game 8-3 with Gord Paul scoring three goals and teammate Bill Grey scoring two for the Roadrunners. Rob Lawson scored the first of his three goals for Parry Sound one minute and 15 seconds later off a pass from Brian McLeod. Hescored again at the 10:29 mark of the first period with assists going to Brian McLeod and Casey Orr. Midland got on the scoreboard for the first Midland Lawn Bowling Club to meet Oct. 23 is the date planned for the annual meeting of Midland Lawn Bowling Club members which will be held in Bayview Public School in Midland. The meeting will feature reports of all committees connected with the club and the members will discuss what is planned for next season. Club competition plaques and trophies will be presented at this time. Anyone interested in becoming a member is welcome to attend as well as members. Moreau time 28 seconds after the previous goal by Parry Sound when Noel McEachern took a pass from Ken Mugford. Their next goal was scored by Andy Zurawski for his first of two in the game at the 8:14 point in the second period. Midland, however, didn't score again until the second period but Parry Sound did score two more goals in the first period, one coming from Kevin Barks at the 5:41 mark and the other from Rob Lawson for his third of the game with 1:44 left in the first period. At the end of the first period, Midland was down 5-2. Parry Sound began the scoring off for the second period as well with a goal by Jeff Barks from Kevin Barks and Ron Caldwell with six minutes and 47 seconds left in the period. Casey Orr put Parry Sound on the scoreboard once again for his second goal of the game with five minutes and 13 seconds left in the second period. An assist went to Brian McLeod on the play, his fifth of six in the game. Andy Zurawski finished the scoring off for Midland with three minutes and 24 seconds left in the peirod when he took a pass from Frank Dance and put it over the sprawling Parry Sound goalten- der. The third period was a FOR THE very good period for Midland, allowing only one goal against them. Although they didn't score themselves, it was the first time in the game that they looked like they could stop Parry Sound from advancing on their net. Casey Orr scored his third goal for Parry Sound, accepting a pass from Brian McLeod 29 seconds into the third period. The remainder of the period was filled with close, hard-fought hockey. Despite the score, Midland looked like they might develop into a good hockey club given time. Centennials will play again Friday against Huntsville Huskies in Huntsville at 8:30 p.m. MSS seniors slip Slipping into fourth place after Thursday's showing at Sunnidale Park in Barrie is Midland Secondary School's senior boys' cross country team. } Despite this drop in position, the senior boys put on a good per- formance and are bound to pick up their place again.
