The day is part of the week's activities designed to welcome new students to Midland Secondary School. A sock hop will be held in the gymnasium during period nine. Oct. 18 -- The Ladies Guild of St. James-On-The- Lines, Penetanguishene, is holding a garage and bake sale on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Parish Hall, Church Street. Fowl supp er great success The Annual Fowl Supper, held in the United Church Centre, Saturday night October 11, was once again a huge success. The ladies and men outdid themselves with that delicious home cooking and baking, drawing a crowd of about 750 people. A lovely wedding was solemnized in the Free Methodist Church, Friday evening Oct. 10, when Elda Jean Barber and Terry Williams were joined in marriage. The can- dlelight service was conducted by Rev. Hubert Schwartz" and Rev. Car] Bull of Barrie. The reception following was held in the Orange Centre where the families and a few close friends enjoyed the evening. It was drawn to their attention that it was Ted and Bessie Webb's 42nd Anniversary that same day. The Wyevale United Church had a good turnout for their Thanksgiving Service Sunday morning, Oct. 12. The Church was beautifully decorated with an array of fall flowers, vegetables and coloured leaves. Roy Hayward was responsible for this added touch. We are sorry to learn that Mrs. Hilda Phillips Ladies glad to be home by Jeanne Webb Mrs. Lillian Hall of Wyevale and her sister Mrs. Pear! Goldsmith of Midland, returned from a three weeks holiday to Van- couver. They reported a wonderful trip by bus, travelling the southern route going out, and visiting their sister, Mrs. Ida Birch at Langley, B.C. On the way home they made stopovers with relatives at Edmonton, Alberta and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. "Travelling is great but it is always good to get home,"' said Mrs. Hall. The Pine Ridge Women's Institute are looking for missing copies of the Tweed- smuir History. They would appreciate it if anyone having a copy borrowed would turn it in at the Lucky Dollar Store. Wyevale is _ still thinking Centennial. We are looking forward to seeing a great many coloured slides on the July Centennial Celebrations.
