The New Huronia Chapter is one of the largest in terms of geography in Ontario, including in its boun- daries all the com- munities from Bradford to Muskoka and from the west side, Lake Simcoe to beyond Owen Sound. The Real Estate Institute of Canada was founded by a group of farseeing leaders of the Real Estate Brokerage business 25 years ago who perceived that a widely held desire by Real Estate Brokers and Salespeople for more' professional status and recognition could only be attained by establishing some national standards of education and_ ex- perience and conferring on those who attained these standards a designation. Professor Phillip White was engaged to design the first University Extension Courses which, in up- dated form, are now available in Univer- sities across Canada. The first designation granted was Fellow of the Real Estate Institute or F.R.I. Later, the Institute took on the task of granting, in Canada, the Certified Property Manager or C.P.M. from the Institute of Real Estate Management in the U.S.A. More recently the Institute adopted a new division, The Institute of Leasehold Acquisition, who grant the designation A.L.O. (Accredited Leasing Officer). The Institute's prime purpose is Education both for those who wish to attain a designation in their chosen Real Fstate Specialty field and up-dating and up- grading education for those who already hold a designation. The Establishment of the Huronia Chapter will assist both of those ght tomorrow in Orillia aims for Real Hstate people in this area. First, by making the courses required to attain a Designation more available and, secondly, by sponsoring meetings and seminars for Professional Real Estate people in the Huronia area who wish to improve their knowledge and_ skills. The board might also consider changing the zoning of adjacent properties, MacKell said. Planning Board Chairman Wayne DeWitt has extended the date of his resignation from the board to Nov. 30 from Nov. 1. Board members Gordon Maxwell and Ed Lawlor, whose terms expire Nov. 30, are willing to serve another term.
