Most' councillors agreed they didn't want an arcade in downtown Midland, fearing such a facility would lead to vandalism and drugs. Danny Wood questioned council in requiring a $100 licensing fee be placed on the first machine and $20 for each and every other machine a keeper of a place of amusement operates. He said by licensing these machines it would make it easier not more difficult for people to bring more machines into the town. Machines "Before there was just three of us in Midland operating these machines. You knew where they were and there was no problem. That could all change with this new bylaw," he said. Ken Burgess, operator of Beach Head Amusements Ltd., who has placed at least 500 machines _ throughout the province said for the most part he agreed with the new bylaw but like the other two people. Wood and Harvev Leader, he too has some reservations. Leader was opposed to council limiting times during the week when pin-ball machines could be in operation. He was pleased that council allowed him to operate his machines while his place of business was open. As it now. stands council is to take one more look at its bylaw before making any final decision on the matter.
