She spoke of the world conference in Germany and_ the decisions made when delegates from over 40 countries could discuss their needs and how thev could help one another. Women working for mankind can be a moving force for peace. Miss Molly McGhee, Direetor of the Lal Economics' Branch, Ministry of Agriculture and Food, brought exciting news of the new courses that her Branch will have for the women of Simcoe County. Her staff are always up- dating the programs which are presented by Marjorie McDonald and Patricia Redid, the Home Economists. They will be conducting September nuptials St. Thomas More Parish, Calgary, was the scene Sept. 8 of the wedding of Joanne Leo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Leo, Queen Street, Midland, to Dave Eden, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Eden of Sunnyside. The couple is now residing in Calgary. workshops for. the women as well as the 4- H leaders. The two-day con- vention was interesting and informative as the conveners and leaders presented their reports. The Provincial Board Directors Mrs. G. Mallion of Tottenham and Mrs. D. Harvie of Orillia used a skit to tell the story of the W.I. and the many projects. Pleasant breaks were enjoved with sing-songs by Mary Orr and Jean Campbell. The Glee Club of Simcoe North District rendered several selections. Beautiful slides of the Erland Lee Home and grounds were shown by Mrs. Margaret Soeller and made us proud to have had a part in it. Mrs. Murray Bowen of Hawkestone will succeed Mrs. James Beard of Coldwater as the Area president. Mrs. Walter Coutts of Stayner is the first vice- president and Mrs. Gordon Downing of Barrié as second vice. Mrs. David Parry was re-elected as secretary- treasurer. The members reminded of "Home Dav'"' in Farmers Week on Jan. 7 at the Con- tinental Inn in Barrie. There will be in- formative demonstr- ations all day so mark it on vour calendar. Five-year plan paying off The piece of paper being exchanged means $8,000 for the Midland YMCA. YMCA manager Austin Matthews accepts the cheque from Y's Men's Club President Bud Lewis.
