Miss Marg Duffett Miss Margaret Duffett, a teacher with manv years' standing in Midland, died Oct. 21, 1980 at Huronia District Hospital. Through the years Miss Duffett held the following positions: President of the local Women Teachers' Association, President of the Evening Auxiliary of St. Paul's United Church. She wrote a history of St. Paul's United Church: Looking Back- ward through the Years. Her chief hobby was gardening. During manv of her years of retirement she served as secretary of the Midland Horticultural Societv. She was keenly interested in reading. Her teaching career began in 1918 and ended in 1958. Miss Duffett was the only daughter of Harry and Euphemia Duffett. Rugby was her place of birth and Orillia her home in early childhood. The remainder of her life was spent in Midland. Her father moved to Midland to enter into a partnership in a blacksmith business with the late William Nev. After attending public and secondary school in Midland, she suc- cessfully studied at the College of Education in Toronto. She began teaching in 1918 at the time of the influenza epidemic at Riverside. With the exception of that first year. she taught at the former Central School and Regent School. The Frederick Street resident was buried in Lakeview Cemetery Oct. 23, 1980 after a service held in the Nicholls Funeral Home, Midland. Rev. Francis Cook officiated.
