Wyebridze news by Liz and John Dennis One week ago Thursday, local parents had an opportunity to visit Wyebridge Central School and see for themselves just how Junior is getting along and how he or she is fitting with the class activities. Those of us who at- tended were pleasantly surprised and_ en- tertained by the various activities the children were taking part in. Jim Withers paid his old home town a visit as he spent last week, in and around Wyebridge calling on _ family members and friends. Jim returned to Ottawa last Monday. A good crowd was on hand, Oct. 25, as the Wyebridge tiremen held their annual dance. Those in attendance enjoved the crisp sound of Wayne Turner and the Northerners. Dance organizers deserve credit as it was an evening well spent. Best wishes for a speedy recovery are extended to Meredith Cuthrie from the entire village. Meredith is in Huronia District Hospital recovering from an operation. Don't forget Tuesday Night Blighty Bingo at Wvyebridge Community Centre. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the first game is at 8 p.m. The First Wyebridge Cubs participated in the annual Apple Day Program, Oct. 25. In attendance were twelve Cubs and one scout. Although the weather did not co-operate very much, the boys braved the poor conditions and did their part to help scouting in South georgian Bay. Last Thursday the Cubs held their Halloween evening. They enjoyed dunking for apples and playing several games, in what was described._as a fun- night. During the meeting, Chris Woods was of- ficially invested into the First Wyebridge Cub Pack. The meetings for the Cubs and Beavers. will be cancelled tomorrow evening, due to the ACW's Annual Roast Beef Supper, which will be from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. 4-H Club holds last meeting by Louise Wanless Mr. and Mrs. Tony Porretta, Linda, Robert and David visited on the weekend with the lat- ter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. The New Flos 4-H Club '"'The Four Food Fanatics'"" met Friday evening at Brigid McGill's and answered the roll call, "The most interesting idea I learned during this project and my favourite recipe."' A birthday party was enjoyed by the children, their parents and friends of the Wyevale United Church Sunday School, following the Worship Service on Sunday, Oct. 26. It was held to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Sunday Schools, started by Robert Raikes in England. Children with paper hats, balloons and smiling faces covered with cake icing, were seen leaving for home at the end of the celebration. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Beacock chose _ the month of September for their vacation. Accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Leyman THE WINNER'S 4 Murdoch of New Liskeard, (Leyman was formerly of Wyevale) they travelled to the west coast, thoroughly enjoying the weather and scenery. Vancouver gave them a wet reception though. At Lodgepole, Alberta, they visited with Marie's brothers, Joe and Larry and sister Wanda. At Edmonton they stayed with Robbie Beacock for a few days. At Portage La Prairie thev enjoyed a day or so with Jack and Jean Greene. All told, it was a beautiful holiday. Doreen and Cliff Grenier enjoyed a week in Northern Ontario recently. Their friend met them by plane, taking them for about a 40 minute flight into his hidden paradise in the North. She has been a Wymbolwood Beach resident for quite a number of years. However, Midland is close enough that we hope to see her often. Bessie Large was a patient in Penetang General Hospital for a few days. We are pleased to report that she is home again. Some of our men are home from the muose hunt. At least one group we know of, bagged a couple. Mrs. Hilda Phillips is now in Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie.
