SSS eT Community mourns resident's passing by Marguerite Dunlop The Community was saddened by the death of Mr. Jack Dunlop of Coldwater on Wed- nesdav, Nov. 5 at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital. He was born in Moonstone where he lived until his marriage lo Miss Ella Graham of Eadv. He then moved to the former Bud Ryan farm on the Coldwater Road just south of Coldwater. After some years he moved to Coldwater. He sold his farm to thé Stewart Alderson family, whose' son Harvey now lives there. Jack remained in the Coldwater home after the death of his wife, spending the later winters with some of his family, until he was taken to the hospital about six weeks ago. He has three daughters Jane, Mrs. Ralph Lipsett of Toronto, Dorothy, Mrs. Romaine Croskill of Mount Forest, and Grace. Mrs. Bob Tip- ping of Orangeville. He also leaves seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was interested in sports, playing with the Edmonton hockey team while he was in the West in his young days. He also enjoyed football and baseball. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Coldwater and was on the board of Elders. Mrs. Bruce Speerin, Emma, is the sole survivor of this large family. The extension to the Jim Eakley house is coming along well. The hunters' are returning ffom their annual hunt with varied results. The definite results are not yet announced. However we do know that Lloyd Dunlop shot two par- tridge in the backyard on Saturday morning. Mrs. Lynn Lockhart is still in Barrie Royal Victoria Hospital but her condition is im- proving. Thursday, Nov. 13 the Simcoe County Health. Unit will be visiting our school to administer the Annual Brush-In. From Nov. 17 to Nov. 28 will be the first term examinations. Report cards will be sent home on Dec. 5th. Non- Instructional Days for November will be: Tuesday, Nov. 11 (Remembrance Day) and Thursday and Fridav, Nov. 20 and 21. These two days are designated as Professional Develop- ment Days by the Simcoe County Board of Education. Teachers will be involved in workshops _ throughout the County. The winners of the "Super Citrus Fruit Salespeople" were First Prize $50 to Steven Gray; Second Prize $25 to Cathy McFarland; Third Prize - pocket radio to Kevin Orr. Robbie King, Michelle Blunt, Terry Tomlin and Jeff Blunt. Weekend visiting bv Eleanor Edwards and Carol Graham Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rumney enjoyed a visit during the past week with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. _ Howe of Hamilton also Mrs. W. J. Rumney of Hamilton. During this lime they also visited Mrs. Rumney's aunt Mrs. Clara Jamieson of Cambridge. Mr and Mrs. Ellsworth Collins of Wvebridge and Mrs. Effie Kellogg of Shinglehouse, Penns- ylvania_ visited on Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Farl Edwards and Mr. and Mrs. Orval Edwards. Mr. Peter Powell has returned home after altending a convention in Vancouver BC during the past week. Weekend guests with Mr. and Mrs. David Jones and family were Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Trussler and family of Kitchener. Svmpathy of the community is extended lo the family of the late Mr. Alfred Tinney of Toronto and formerly of this community. Rev. Francis Cook conducted the memorial service in the Vasey United Church on Sunday af- ternoon. Congratulations to Mr. Frank Rumney on November 15 on the occasion of celebkrating } being 80 years young. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Edwards visited on Sundav with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Schoneveld and Jeremy of Barrie. Hilda Phillips has been transferred back to Penetang Hospital from Royal Victoria in Barrie. where she spent some time. The time is 7:30 p.m. Sunday evenings. We are pleased to see both Frank Caston and Bill Ord home from the hospital. We trust they are both taking it easy. We welcome John and Linda Redforth, and daughters Lorrie, Tracy and Shelley to the Wvevale area. Thev have just moved here from Hillsdale. Elmvale Sunshine Club bv Whilhemene Cameron Time is marching and we are becoming ac- customed to Standard Time. The days are much shorter. Our president Ignatius O'Halloran opened the meeting with the singing of O Canada. There were about 80 members present to plav the games of their choice. Winners were as follows: Bridge - Ena Adams and Bertille Marlev; Euchre - Zaida Drinkill and Art Settle, and Cribbage ended in a lie. We had a sing-along with Emily Finlay, a verv able leader. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 11 as there is voting on Mondav in the Com- munity Hall. Our Christmas dinner was discussed and will be held December 15 with Tsobel Doan and Tessie Beardsall giving the tickets Dec. 1 and 8.
