--S Don Lawrence * Sports editor * Penetanguishene Kings Jr. C hockey club travelled to Oro for a game against the 77's Wednesday night, handily winning by a score of 7-2. Three Penetangui- shene players scored two goals each in that -- game, Bob Weatherill, Doug Gillespie and Carl Cowan all knocking in double markers. Wayne Dixon scored the Kings' seventh goal. Penetanguishene were leading by a score of 5-1 at the end of the first period and upped their score to 7-1 at the closing mark of the second period. Oro scored one goal in the first period and another in the third period. BY tye of Penetanguishene's goals came from the line of Carl Cowan, Wayne Dixon and Doug Gillespie as those three continue to make their presence felt every time they stop on the ice. Midland ladies' volleyball entry into the Ontario Volleyball Association, the Double Blues will be playing Sunday in Midland YMCA. Another ladies' volleyball team to watch for is Commodore Hotel Malibus who will be playing in Barrie Tuesday night. They will be playing against Barrie and Base Borden then. High steppers Tim Grenier may have lost this jump during Midland Secondary School's midget boys' basketball team's game with Elmvale Wednesday in MSS' triple gym but the team did a lot better. MSS won the game by a score of 52-33. Clarke back in Midland Todd Clarke of Balm Beach has been accepted to play in Midland for the Centennials Jr. C hockey club. Clarke will start tonight for Midland when they will play host to Haliburton Huskies in Midland Centennial Arena at 8:30 p.m. : '= Friday Midland Athletics Intermediate A hockey club will be playing in Barrie tonight in a return game, the first being played in Midland Centennial Arena last night. Tonight's game will get under way at 8:30 p.m. Midland Centennials' Jr. C hockey club will be hosting Haliburton Huskies in Midland Centennial Arena at 8:30 p.m. Todd Clarke will be making his premiere performance in this game for Midland Centennials after playing the first half of the season in Penetanguishene. Meanwhile across the tracks, Parry Sound Shamrocks will be _ visiting the Penetanguishene Kings in Penetanguishene Arena for a game that will begin at 8:30 p.m. In Midland Minor Hockey, Bertram's Fuels and Ron's Gas Bar will be engaging in tyke house league action, that game starting at six p.m. For your skating pleasure, roller skating will be in Midland's Civic Centre. _ Admission is $2.75 with sessions running from seven p.m. until 9:15 p.m. and again from 10 p.m. until 12:15 p.m. Saturday Adco Tire will be sponsoring the first an- nual Adco Tire Men's Bonspiel that will feature 20 men's teams, 10 from Midland and 10 from Penetanguishene. This event will take place in Midland's Curling Rink, with one Midland team facing one Penetanguishene team in a total points affair. The bonspiel will travel to Penetanguishene curling club next year. Action will start at nine a.m. There will be a lot of hockey action in Midland Centennial Arena Saturday in Midland Minor Hockey House League. Kinsmen midgets will take on Belanger at six p.m. while Hebner's will face Jaycees at seven p.m. House league peewee action will see Midland Police in Penetanguishene Arena to challenge Penetanguishene 'A' peewees, that game at 7:50 a.m. Also in peewee action, Midland Times will take on Penetanguishene "B" peewees. That game will start at 8:10 a.m. Other hockey action will see A & W peewees facing Ports of Huron at 9:05 a.m., Georgian Bay atoms challenging Penetanguishene Oilers at 10:10 a.m., A.E. LePage atoms taking on Penetanguishene Flames at 11:05 a.m. and O.K. Johnson atoms facing Jory's I.D.A. atoms at 12 p.m. More hockey action will follow as well with Novice house leaguers getting into the swing of things along with minor peewee and midget rep teams. House league bantams will also hit the ice Saturday. Sunday Midland Centennials will be playing in Midland Centennial Arena at 7:30 when their opposition will be Huntsville Huskies. Midland Minor Hockey action will also precede this game with rep teams and house league teams starting at three p.m. and going up until an hour before the Centennials take the ice. Born Loser's continue winning Loser's of Sinner's Born Sunday Bowling League have -- been anything but lately as they've held onto first place for the past several weeks. They have 57 points with 25 wins and 14 losses. In second place, not far behind, are Lucky Striker's with 52 points. A strong third place team is Pat's Rat's with 50 points. The bottom three teams in the league are Heavy Roller's with 41 points, Alley Cat's with 36 points and Seven Up's with 28 points. Dean Chapman leads the league in men's top averages with his average of 213. In second position in that race is Robert Duquette with 209 while Jim Bressette has 206 for third place. For the ladies, Stella McIntaggart has a 186 average while Sherrin Sykes has 182 for second place. In third place is Pamela Lesperance with 178. High bowler for men is Gerald Lesperance with a 350 flat single score. Shirley Simmonds has 289 for ladies' high single. Jim Bressette has 878 for men's high triple score while Sherrin Sykes has 675 for high triple for the ladies. Soiker, Knapton, Beauchamp tops Terry Spiker continues to lead Midland Athletics Intermediate A hockey club in individual scoring with 32 points. The closest player on the team to his total is Ken Knapton with 23 points. Bill Beauchamp is third with 22 points.
