Shawn Stewart, left was recently assistant trainer for the club but was promoted with the leaving of their head trainer, Randy Vincent. Bowling News bv Dennis Brabant The Youth Bowling Leagues in Penetanguishene and Midland are currently selling boxes of chocolate almonds for fund raising purposes. The proceeds go towards purchasing trophies to be presented at the year - end banquets. The Big Brothers Bow! for Millions campaign has com- menced with the holding of the first executive meeting. The prizes given out to bowlers with the most pledges will be upgraded this year with the inclusion of a large grand prize as well. Watch for the Midland-Penetangui- shene 5 Pin Bowlers Association float in the Santa Claus parade tomorrow in Midland. The "Beat the Champ" television show starts next week on Cable 12. Check the programme listings on Cable 12 for viewing times. The Colt 45 210 and under starts next week with the entrants counting this regular three games of league plav. The top 10 per cent of the bowlers in Midland and Penetanguishene will advance to the zone finals and will also win merchandise prizes. Several bowlers from Midland and Penetanguishene _par- Major Peewees win Midland Civitans Maior Peewee representative team played in Base Borden recently, winning the game hands down 9-2. Archie Merides of Midland was the big scorer for the game with three goals. His first goal was assisted by Peter Lalonde while his second and third goal were assisted by Chris Duckworth. Duckworth scored one goal himself, the assist going to Pat Marchand. Marchand scored two goals. his first assisted by Jamie Cadeau and David Bressette. Marchand's second goal was assisted by Robbie Fortin and James Savage. Other goal getters for Midland were Eddie ticipated in the first half of the Carling Open tournament in Barrie on Sunday. The top 10 men and 9 ladies will form three teams to represent Huronia at the Ontario Championships. Leader after the first 10 games for men was Ron Mackie of Barrie with a total of 2,700, Rose Herbert leading the ladies with a total of 2,465. Jules» Marion leads the Midland bowlers with a total of 2,354, good for 11th spot while Dennis Brabant rolled 2,322. good for 13th spot. Other men bowlers around 2,200 for their 10 games were Bill Pud- dicomb, Maurice Lacroix, Louis Maurice, J. P. Desroches and Albert Morin of Penetanguishene , and Maurice Lapensee of Midland. Pauline Brabant and Julianne Marion from Midland are sitting about 150 pins behind the last qualifying spot for ladies. The final 10 games will be bowled this weekend in Orillia. Around the Leagues: Congratulations to Murray Donaldson of the Bayshore Seniors who rolled a 316 in November and to Len Lesperance of _ the Midland Industrial League who made a difficult split-spare.
