Novice Heather Cairns claimed first in 11 and under girls category in the 50 meter back stroke and 50 meter butterfly. J. J. On Sunday morning, the Penetang club travelled to Orillia for the second game in their home-home series and again came out on top, 7-5. Fred Patterson scored twice, with singles going to Larry Banks, Brian Merkley, Larry Leroux, Paul DeVillers and Ken Davidson. Both DeVillers and Davidson goals scored on breakaways late in the third period to break the 5-5 tie. Orillia's four goal performance by Garry Terney and single by Don Morris were all for naught. Penetang begins its home and home series with the Elmvale Georgian Bay Old- timers this Friday night Dec. 12 at the Penetang Game time is 8:15 p.m. Come on out and see some very fine hockey. Penetang Oldtimers coach, Stan LeClair seems to be coaching nothing but winners latelv. He hopes to have the team in peak form for the National Tournament in Mon- treal in February. Penetang Oldtimers will be one of 100 teams participating and they hope to bring home the Gold medal. Bayview champs continue Bayview Public School's girls' volleyball team will be travelling to Orillia Saturday for volleyball | champion- ships that will involve teams from across Simcoe County. Bavview Public School girls are area three champions. and thus will be represen- ting area three in Orillia. Winning rink The Adco Tire Men's Invitational Curling Bonspiel wound up Saturday night and coming out on top was the Connie Maurice rink from Penetanguishene. The bonspiel, which pitted Midland rinks against Penetanguishene rinks rekindled cross-town outing for all involved in the exciting competition. Midgets opened with an easy 64-29 victory for Midland. Top shooter was Grade 10 student Todd Gray. The lanky red-head notched 20-points to lead his mates from Midland. Darryl Burns added 15 and Duncan McCready scored nine points to also help pace the Midland squad. The junior game was a bit closer, however -~Midland clobbered their hosts 67-48. John Johnson led all MSS shooters with 19 points while Wiison Cowan and Rob Leduc each connected for 16 points apiece. The senior game was a classic with Midland pulling off a major upset 85-39.
