A total of $2,500 in prize money will go to the winners in, four events plus the first event consolation and of that money, $600 will be awarded the first place rink. The bonspiel will kick off Thursday, Dec. 11 with the first draw at 7 p.m. and the second at 9 p.m. All games will be eight ends, including finals. Friday will see draws at 5,7 and 9 p.m. witha calcutta following the 9 p.m. draw. Saturday's schedule curling action beginning at 7 a.m. and a fun feature of the four day event, the 4th Annual includes - Broom Contest. A free supper for all competitors will be served from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the club and visitors are invited to attend and enjoy the fun. Sunday's agenda features curling beginning at 9 a.m. with a free lunch at noon for those competing. Third Throwing and Fourth event finals will go at 5 p.m. and first and second event finals at 7 p.m. Presentations and closing celebrations will follow. A total of 20 teams have registered to take part in this year's bonspiel, sponsored by Molson's Breweries and various Elmvale and area merchants. Barrie's Country Club, Barrie's Curling Club, * Base Borden, Elmvale, Penetanguishene, Stroud and Orillia. Their dramatic win came over Orillia's rink of June Letterdale as lead with Doreen McFadden, Mary Olimer and Carol Wills backing her up. Morton's rink were down Wednesday but came back to win the Penetanguishene Curling Club for further playdowns Jan. 6 and 7 when they will play winning rinks from District 9, 11 and 12. The victory in Midland was celebrated by members of Morton's rink and the Orillia rink with a bottle of cham- pagne, displaying the sort of comradeship that can develop from good competition. Midland _ thrashed Penetanguishene Pe- ewees by a score of 9-1 in which Midland dominated action throughout the game, showing good offensive strength. Eddie Richardson scored four goals in this game for Midland with assists going to David Bressette, Chris Duck- worth, Danny Sallows and Pat Marchand on those four goals. Richardson also received two assists. David Bresselte scored two goals and three assists in the game for Midland while Peter Lalonde also got two goals. Chris Duckworth scored one goal and th ree assists for Midland. Lone scorer' for Penetanguishene was Robbie Desroches, the assist going to Steve Jackson. Sports Line Friday On the hockey scene, Midland Athletics Intermediate A club will be going to Orillia for a game at 8:30 p.m. against the Terriers. In Jr. C action, Oro 77's will be in Midland Centennial Arena at 8:30 p.m. while their cross-town rivals, the Penetaguishene Kings will be in Bracebridge for a game with the Bears at 8:30 p.m. In Midland Minor Hockey, house league tykes will be playing a short game after their instruction period, that starting at six p.m. Midland Minor Bantams rep team will be travelling to Thornbury for a game at 9:30 p.m. aad Penetanguishene major atoms will be playing in Base Borden, that game getting under way seven p.m. Saturday Bayview Public School's girls' volleyball Weekend Ski Watch The recent snowfall on Wednesday cetr- tainly lifted the spirits of a lot of local skiers and this weekend will be the best this ski season with four of the local five ski resorts reporting good conditions. Mountain View Ski Hills in Midland report good conditions with eight inches of packed snow on their slopes. Their two single poma lifts are open for use to get you to the top of the hill. At Mount St. Louis, just outside Midland, good conditions are reported with 25-60 centimeters combination of man-made and natural snow as base. On top of that, the past few days' snowfall has deposited another 30 centimeters of snow on the slopes. Their triple chair lift will accomodate your ascent to the seven slopes awaiting you. -- Medonte Ski Hills have good ski conditions with 10-20 centimeters of man-made snow and natural snow as a base. _ To that has been added five centimeters new Man-made snow and 18 centimeters of natural snow. To get you up on the slopes, they have a T- bar, double chairs and a service to the slopes. Horsehoe Valley in Craighurst is reporting good conditions with 10-40 centimeters of combination man-made and natural snow as base. Five centimeters of man-made snow and 15 centimeters of natural snow has been added to that. Their T-bar, double chairlift and triple chair lift will whisk you to the top of the slopes where you have your choice of 12 runs. No reports are available on Blue Mountain in Collingwood. : team will be representing area three of Simcoe County's public school system in Orillia today as they try for the county championship. Meanwhile, Sacred Heart School's boys' volleyball team will be defending their championship in' a Simcoe County wide volleyball tournament to be held at St. Theresa's High School today. Action will begin at 9:30 a.m. and run until three p.m. and will involve six champion teams from the six areas of Simcoe County School Board's system. Sacred Heart will be representing area three which includes Midland. Midland Secondary School's wrestling team will be in Bracebridge today for an eight a.m. ~ start of a tournament there. Midland Minor Hockey's major atoms rep team will play in Owen Sound in a three p.m. game. Major peewee rep team from Midland will also. be playing, their game in Penetanguishene at eight p.m. Penetanguishene and Midland major bantams will do battle at four p.m. in Midland Centennial Arena and minor bantams rep team from Midland will play host to Collingwood at 5:30 p.m. There will also be numerous house league games ranging from midget teams at 6 a.m. up to Novice teams who play until 4 p.m. Those games will all take place in Midland Centennial Arena. Sunday A coaches' clinic will be held in Penetanguishene Arena from 8:30 a.m. until five p.m, _ This is the Level Two program and you must have your Level One coaching cer- tificate to enter. A fee of $10 is imposed for this program. A volleyball tournament will be held all day in Midland YMCA's gymnasium and will feature teams from the Ontario Volleyball Association. Midland Centennials Jr. C hockey club will be going to Parry Sound at 2:30 p.m. for a game against the Shamrocks. Midland Athletics Intermediate A hockey team will be hosting Port Elgin Sunocos at 8:30 p.m. in Midland Centennial Arena. Midland's minor atoms rep team will be playing in Collingwood at 1:30 p.m. while major atoms will be playing on home ice at 4:15 p.m. against Collingwood. Midland major peewees will be in Collingwood at 5:30 p.m. for a game and minor peewees will play a three p.m. game against Elmvale in Midland Centennial Arena. Midland major midgets will play in Penetanguishene Arena at five p.m. Midland Minor Hockey house league midgets will be playing games between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. as well.
