Independent Order of Oddfellows and the Ideal Rebekah Lodge held their 1980 Christmas. supper and danee. one week ago Friday and among the 120 plus participants were two Wyebridge members, Stu Withers and yours truly. Stu and I were ac- companied by our lovely wives. The evening got rolling about 6:30 p.m. as those in attendance sat down to a delicious pot luck dinner. The amount and types of food available would have caused the most fanatical dieter to have second thoughts. As the dishes were being cleared, Santa Claus made a surprise en- trance much to the delight of the children present. Then it was time to dance. With tables moved out of the way, the Odd Fellows Temple began to sway to and fro to the gentle up-swing rhythm of the Ancient Mariners. Oddfellows and Rebekahs alike danced up a storm and when it was over the happy faces and dusty shoes told the tale of an evening spent full of enjovment. © The first Wyebridge Cubs and Beavers were participants in the Annual Santa Claus Parade held in Midland recently. The boys looked quite smart as they displayed their pack and colony colours and respective flags while riding upon their float. Last Friday, the First Wvebridge Cubs played host to Sixth Midland and First Lafontaine as they presented Rudyard Kiplings full length movie, '"'The Jungle Book." and after the one and a half hour movie the boys were treated to' retres him en ts . The First Wyebridge Beavers spent last Thursday in busy fashion as they made Christmas decorations for their parents. For Mom. they made flower arrangements and for dad, pencil holders. Next Thursday will be a special evening as they will have their Christmas party that night. The Wyebridge Hall Board will be holding their election cf officers at their next meeting, December 22. This is an annual event and regular business is put aside for the most part of the meeting. Birthday _ greetings are extended at this time to long time Wyebridge resident, Doug Carpenter, who celebrated his birthday last Saturday. Apologies are in order for Bill McMartin whose name was erroneously referred to as McMaster. Bill McMartin is the in- structor for the arts and crafts classes that take place Monday evenings, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Wyebridge Community Centre. Don't forget, Blighty Bingo every Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. in the Wyebridge Community Centre. Sr. B ladies fail to qualify Here's Look'n Atcha is the name of a ladies' volleyball team in the Ontario Volleyball Association and they operate on a senior B level play. They played in a tournament in Toronto Sunday and won seven of the nine games they played. Their first match up came against Bloor J.C.C. which they swept straight 15-6, 15-5 and 15- 12: They then met Huskies A and the Midland team handled them with little dif- ficulty' 15-5 and 15-4 after losing the second \ game 15-13. Their third match up was with D.R.A. and they took the last game 15-3 as fatigue began to take its toll. The wins and losses gives them a 15 win, 9 loss record for their fall season and places them in third or fourth in the nine team league. This, of course, means that they cannot go on to the qualifying rounds for senior A. In théir upcoming winter season, they will be playing 48 games between January and April in their senior B level. served. ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION Branch 68, Penetanguishene DECEMBER ACTIVITIES Clarke scores lone marker Murray Hadley of Oro 77's led most of the attack when his team defeated Midland Centennials Jr. C hockey club 5-1 Friday night in Midland Cen- tennial Arena. Hadley scored Oro's first three goals, one in the first period and two in the second period. That was all before Midland even scored their only goal. Midland scored with two minutes left in the second period but by that time, Oro was up four goals. From there on in, it was an uphill battle as Midland attempted to get on the scoreboard but failed even though they fired 46 shots. Oro scored once more to make the score 5-1 with 19 seconds left in the final period. In net for Midland, Start your Christmas viewing with the classic Dwayne Latondress played an excellent game facing 36 shots. Todd Clarke, recently of Penetanguishene Kings, was the only Centennial to score. "Christmas Caro?' Dec. 17 at 6:00 "A Christmas Child' Dec. 18 at 6:00 ...the man you thought you kne Sat.
