That's the date set for the connecting link bet- ween the trail at Maple Valley Ski Club and the Trans-Ontario trail to be effected. The link will give area snowmobilers 540 miles of trail that will take them from Alexandria, Ontario to Kincardine, Ontario. In time, the trail is hoped to connect right through to New York State and other provinces of Canada. Some stocking! A lot of the expenses such as gas has been paid by Fulawka and Hornberg in the past as well. To help them in their work, a membership fee is paid to belong to the local chapters of the Huronia Snowmobile Association and the Ontario Snowmobile Federation. It costs $15 per family and $10 per single to buy a membership in both of these groups as a package deal. The membership fee also entitles the mem- bership holder to literature and magazines that inform them of things going on within the groups and in snowmubiling in general. Taylor, MPP Simcoe Centre Christmas Message Weare near the end of the first year of a new decade. 1980 has been a year of challenge and achievement - a year of effort and excellence. Through many dif- ficulties and in the face of countless problems we have advanced across the days and weeks' witnessing change, achievement, renewed hope and energy We have seen the wonder of the universe unfold before our eyes. Pictures of Saturn and its moons have revealed mysteries _ previously unimagined. Determination We have seen the courage and deter- mination of a_ single man captivate a nation and urge it to action. Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope demonstrated man's nobility. The generous response of all Canadians to this brave young man's solitary marathon has significantly aided the fight against cancer. People have been out doing things - not just for themselves but for their community. Some indeed, have been able to achieve for all mankind. In Ontario, in spite of external pressures, our people have been at work - building in- dustries, creating jobs, developing opportun- ities and strengthening our communities. The entrepreneurial spirit is flourishing in our Province as_ never before. We are standing together in Ontario. Helping the young get a start in life, extending a hand to those on low or fixed incomes so they too can share in the good life our Province has to offer. As I travel throughout Ontario and talk to people from different regions and walks of life, I sense a growing strength and optimism. I see a greater sense of conviction and more caring. I see confidence in the future of our Province and_ our nation. I believe this confidence is not misplaced. Optimistic During this festive season I believe every Ontarian should have reason to feel proud and optimistic. We have much to be thankful for, living in a nation so blessed with human and natural resources. We have worked hard and gained much success. The road to a better future is clear ahead. Take stock of your- self. what you have and what you can do with it. You too will find that you have much to be thankful for this season. With this knowledge you will have the strength and inspiration to make of 1981 an even better and brighter year.
