He was 84. of the 500 volunteers from Newfoundland known as The Blue Puddies to serve in World War One, and one of the 60 who survived the_war. Laura Mae Thompson (nee Truax), and son Frederick B. Mr. Houden was born in Elmvale March 14, 1932 to Walter and Elsie Houden. He resided in Port Edward, Elmvale, Thompson, of Barrie. Mr. Thompson was an active member of Caledonian Lodge No. 249. A. F. & A.M. Matachewan, Niagara Falls and Sarnia prior to his death and was ac- tively involved as a curler and sailor. Obituary Hazel Beatrice Bunton Hazel Beatrice Bunton, a Kings Road, Waubaushene resident, has died after a three year illness in her 73rd year... She passed away on Feb. 1, 1981, in Soldiers Memoria! Hospital, Obituary Steve Sigmund Steve Sigmund, an employee of Penetanguishene's Ferm Shoe Company for 20 years, died suddenly at his 43 Robert Street EaSt home on Jan. 28, 1981. He was 73. He leaves his wife, Marv Sigmund. He was a resident of Penetanguishene for 30 years. He was born in Moravia, _Czechoslo- vakia to Stephen . Sigmund. and Klotilda Vavrusova, both of whom predeceased him. Father Janda of Toronto conducted the funeral service on January 30, 1981 at the Riverside Crematori- um, Weston, Ontario. Interment of the cremated remains will be in the spring in in Orillia. Mrs. Bunton is sur- vived by her husband, James Henry Bunton, of Waubaushene, and a son. Samuel Grant Bunton of Ajax, Ontario. She was a grandmother. She was born in Paris, Ontario, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Hicks. She married James Bunton in Toronto on June 18, 1937 and resided thereafter at 206 Simpson Avenue, Toronto. She was a housewife and had been retired for eight years. Rev. Terry Dunlop lead the funeral service, held on Feb. 4, 1981 in Nicholls Funeral Home, Midland. Burial will be in Waubaushene Union Cemetery. to the war's end. Born in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland, the son of Augustin Jesseau and Julia O'Connell (both deceased), he came to this area in 1962. G.R.C., Midland, Ontario. He was a Grand Master in 1956. He retired from his job as a maintenance Denton Argle Houden Funeral services were held Jan. 29 at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home in Sarnia and interment at Lakeview Cemetery also in Sarnia. Mr. Houden leaves to mourn his passing one son Richard, one daughter Barbara Susanne and a brother Douglas James all of Sarnia. He was predeceased by a half sister Ada Lamb (Bell) as well as two infants Irene and Lawrence. Relatives and friends attended the services from Elmvale, Thorn- ton and Barrie. He was a. widower. His wife was the late Marion Dorion. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 80, Midland, Ontario. Sidney Thompson machinist at Tiffin Elevator 13 years ago. Born in England, he was married on June 25, 1924, in Midland, where he then resided. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Two sisters, Agnes Major of Toronto and Pat Saunders, also of Toronto, survive him. There were five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Deceased members of the immediate family are Frank of Toronto and Robert of Midland. Rested at the Nicholls Funeral Home. _ Ser- vices were held at Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. James Manuel lead the funeral service on February 2, 1981. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Midland. Surviving him are his sons Howard of Toronto, Maurice of Toronto, Joseph of Vancouver, William of Vancouver, Gordon of Penetanguishene, John of Penetanguishene, and Albert of Beaver- Arthur Jesseau Memorial Penetangui- shene.
