District happenings Bus, car collide in Flos township Two youngsters were taken yesterday to Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie after the school bus in which they were riding was ina collision with a car on Highway 27 in Flos Township. , Ashley Light and James Concilla received minor cuts and bruises, Elmvale OPP said. The driver of the car, Peter Windrem of Elmvale, was also taken to Royal Victoria Hospital, with minor head injuries. The bus was turning left at the time of the accident. The school bus, driven by Lois Holt of Phelpston, was turning left at the time of the accident. OPP are still investigating this mishap. Gaye Lamb to run for NDPs Gaye Lamb, president of the Barrie Labour Council and NDP candidate in the 1979 federal election, won her party's nomination at their meeting held in Barrie last Thursday and as a result, will campaign under the New Democratic Party banner in the March 19 provincial election for Simcoe Centre. Ms. Lamb and her party have listed the bed shortages at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie and the economy as two of the issues that will face candidates in the upcoming election. Paul Wessinger, the party's candidate in the last federal election, has been appointed Campaign Manager of the NDP campaign and Mark Vincer, former Barrie Banner Editor will be her publicity chairman. Gaye Lamb will be facing incumbent George Taylor on the Conservative's side and Bruce Owen for the Liberal party. Dr. Barker profiled in Today Penetanguishene area psychiatrist Dr. Elliott Barker was the subject of a profile ina recent issue of the weekend newspaper supplement, Today. Barker is the founder of the Canadian Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to children, a non-profit organization created in Midland five years ago. He was a staff psychiatrist at Oak Ridge in Penetanguishene for seven years, starting in 1967. During his time there he revolutionized the treatment program for psychopaths. He left Oak Ridge after seven years because his enthusiasm was gone. He retains a minor professional association with Oak Ridge. Handy Andy window best decorated John Verreault has won the first prize in the Penetanguishene Legion's Winterama window painting contest. He decorated the Handy Andy window. In addition to these outdoor activities, there will be horse-drawn sleigh rides through the park. Indoor activities will begin at 7 p.m. with hot chocolate being served. Other games and activities will be beginning in the gymnasium~ which families will be able to slot into. Family swimming will start at 7:15 p.m. and will continue until 9:30 p.m. In addition, an indoor feature will be family whirlpools.
