School. For an opening poem Mrs. Strath chose a "Gift of Flowers", which was most ap- propriate for the time of year and for the budding enthusiasm being felt by most fo get started at growing things. Business arising from the minutes read by the Secretary included - a motion by Madeline Ritchie, seconded by Maureen Welch that we have a second Flower Show in Sept. and each member will try to take one exhibit to the Fall Fair The request to plant trees fo commemorate the .75th Anniversary of Ontario _ Horticultural Association was ac- cepted and planting will be done in various - locations throughout the District. Grace Marcellus reported on plans for the Mav Flower Show. It was agreed that the Society would con- tribute' $5 to each congregation for flowers to honour all active members of Horticulture. These will be placed in the church sometime during Horticulture Week. Milt Leonard had charge of the program and introduced us to a varietv of plants used as ground covers. He then drew numbers for a variety of floral goods and nlant seeds. Mr.and Mrs. Cecil Blow took us, by means of coloured slides, to California to see Disney Land and the Rose Bowl parade at Pasadena. We then had a trip across Canada from Van- couver to Prince Edward Island, and finally right around home on the 6th Con- cession of Tiny. A most enjoyable journev! Waverley Visiting with Mrs. Marg Armstrong and familv over the past weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Fugere DesRoches of Oakville. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Brown. and Mr. and Mrs. Terry Coram spent the weekend in Etobicoke at Mrs. Edna Buffett's. While there they attended the wedding of Ralph Lawson and Marie Rennie, where Denise Coram was bridesmaid. The wedding was held in St. James Islington United Church and reception followed at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall at 3850 Lakeshore Blvd. West. The broomball league is winding up with plavoffs. Medonte Mounties plaved against Waverley Hawks; Medonte winning the first game, Waverley winning the second and Medonte putting Waverley out of the plavoffs in the third game . + 3g Rehearsal time Mrs. Stewart, left of Parkview Public School in Midland is leading her Grades 1 to 3 group of singers these days in preparation for the up- coming annual Midland Y's Men's Music Festival. The festival will be held at St. Mark's Parish Hall The final set of games are now being played Come on Medonte, lets see you win that trophv between the second top teams. Medonte and Phelpston. April 30 to May 6. An older group of students in Grades 7 and 8 are also getting ready for the contest and they are under the guidance of Mrs. Richardson and Mrs. Widdis, both teachers at Parkview.
