The programs include dbeurhentaries, dramas, and interviews wan professionals. This year's series follows the very successful programs of May 1980 with four new 90 minute telecasts. The programs will cover the following subjects: adolescent suicide, foster care, children in institutions, and immigrant children. Resource books on each subject, which will be of interest to professionals, are currently in production and will be available shortly at a nominal charge. A viewers guid is available free of. charge. For further information please phone Contact. A two day workshop entitled Leisure: A Life Skills Challenge, is being offered by the Georgian College Continuing Education Health Sciences Division. It will be held at the College's Barrie Campus on May 14 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The workshop fee is $45 which includes written handouts and coffee. The pre- registration deadline is May 1. The workshop is designed for com- munity based counsellors and front-line workers who feel their mentally han- dicapped clients would benefit from assistance in the areas of leisure and social development. As of December 1980, over 800,000 or 20 percent of currently eligible Canadian homes have received CHIP grants for a total value of $283 million. Although take-up of the program was initially slow, CHIP applications in 1980 increased by 30 percent over those received in 1979. With the announcement of the National Energy program in October 1980, the CHIP program has now been extended to 1987. CHIP applicants are now receiving as part of the application kit a copy of the Energy, Mines and Resources, Enersave questionnaire, which while not mandatory to the application for a CHIP grant, will offer CHIP applicants the opportunity of determining effective priorities for reinsulation. The Mental Health Centre in Penetanguishene is staging a two day open house on Tuesday, May 5 and Wednesday May 6 during the hours of 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Toanche building on level 3. The theme established by the Mental Health Association is Focus on Stress - Putting Your Life Back Into Your Own Hands. This open house will provide the public a chance to meet with staff to learn a bit about the largest employer in the area. Displays will include information pamphlets and arts and crafts done by residents. Kiwanis Club is holding a Monster Casino Night and Elimination Draw at the Midland Civic Centre on May 30, 1981 at 7 p.m. at a cost of $10 per couple. Everyone is welcome. A Service Project for Grade 8 students consisting of odd jobs such as errand running, pet sitting, dog walking, lawn raking, yard cleaning, or any other odd job you may have. Busy month ahead for students Mary Alexander and Tina Halter Mrs. Tanner, Mrs. Dixon and Mr. Hubbard have been preparing the Primary, Junior and Senior Gymnasts for competition in Midland. A primary 3-pitch club has been started and it is under the guidance of Mrs. Turner. This Wednesday, Mr. Allen is going to Mrs. Willis' Grade 3 class and is giving them an oral slide presentation on Mining in Canada. Mrs. Turner is looking , for good, used_teys for our May Flea Market. If you are interested, you may leave them at the school, or you may leave a message and she will come and pick them up. Thank you from Mrs. Turner. Our school Band performed in the Bracebridge Parade last Saturday, they did well. The Band is going to Canada's Wonderland as a reward trip on May ue Mrs. Willis is in charge of our Art Fair. A large display of art is in our front foyer. Our Track and Field team has started con- ditioning as they have a meet in Barrie June 2. Our school has many upcoming events and these are just a few: At 7:30, April 29 our school is holding a musical special featuring our two choirs, our recorder and ukelele groups. We hope to see you there. On May 4 and 5, (mornings only for Grade 4-8) parents will be able to sit in all day in their c....d's class. This is happening because it will be Education Week. On May 4 our school will host the Area 6 Spelling Contest. Mrs. Baker's Grade 4 class had a competition spell-off on Monday. Their class have been working hard for this event. Her class, also, are working hard on their geography work on Canada. The Grade 4's, along with the whole school miss our custodian, Mr. McMann, and we all wish him a_ speedy started a schedule for co-ed badminton. She also has chosen teams for Junior 3-pitch. Mr. Davies' Grade 7 class have been working hard on their assembly which hopefully will be recovery. Mrs. Spring's Ukelele Presented at the end of group, or Spring's May. Strings, will be playing at the Wintario Draw on Thursday, April 30. Tickets are available at most downtown mer- chants for $2 adult and $1 for children. Friday, April 24 the Students' Council held a dance. Many people are still hard at work trying to complete our 1980-81 yearbook. The Camera Club picture pages are all completed. Many people are reading books for the M.S. Read-a-thon to help the search for a Sclerosis.
