MSS 13's bring alot back from Quebec trip A group of 43 Grade 13 students from Midland , Secondary School plus three teachers spent the better part of last week in Quebec sightseeing and learning about that province. The students, under the guidance of John Nix, Pat Gruber and Dave Moore, visited such places as Parliament Hill, museums in Ottawa, Quebec City and the Plains of "Abraham in addition to taking bus tours of Ottawa and taking a ferry ride across the St. Lawrence. The students also saw a french language play. Head supervisor, EDHS report by Mike Handy and Chris Columbus EDHS Student Council presented a film at noon Monday called Monty Python and the Holy Grail, an event that lead off a busy week at the school. The Student Council will be showing another film called "Hair"' after the school musical has been staged. The S.A.A. (Student Athletic Association) has started a new schedule of floor hockey for the boys, and are playing every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at noon. The school play is well on its way. This year's play is entitled "The Sound of Mitsic". Lead parts are being played by Jeff Archer as Captain Georg Van Trapp, and Joanne Vesbitt as Maria Rainer. The play is directed by Mr. Roberts the school's principal, and Miss Brinkman is the assistant director. The actors had their dress rehersal on Sunday May 3. The play | will be shown to the. public on Thursday May ° 7, and Friday, May 8 at 8 p.m. Also, don't forget that E.D.H.S. day is coming up again and it will be on June 3. Spring auction needs donations The date for the Wyevale Spring Auction is coming closer and organizers are desperately in need of donations for the event. According to Caroline Handy the sale will be held on Saturday, May 16 with proceeds to go towards Wyevale recreation activities. Milt Trace will be the auctioneer for the day, and viewing time will be 10 a.m. with the sale commencing an hour later. There will also be a bake sale and lunches will be available. If anyone has any items they would like to donate to this worthy cause, contact Caroline Handy at 322-2562 or Rosland Maurice at 322- 1337. John Nix said the trip was '"'a great success and the students really saw another culture." Upon returning, the students were asked to fill out a questionnaire in order to determine how they rated the trip. One student summed up the trip thus, "I found the trip to be interesting and _ in- formative. I saw things I never thought I would see before and found out about places I never knew existed. I now know that Canada should stay as one."' Another student wrote, "I also feel one of the most significant things that the trip presented to me was a closer feeling between Quebec and Ontario. After the trip, I would hate to see Quebec separate. Before I really didn't think of it."' Secondly, we learned that work and fun can be combined in a fashion - which allows each of us to experience everything we want. The trip was a learning experience for me as I'm sure it was for all my friends and peers." On the whole, the students got a different look at relationships, Quebec and Ontario, student to student and student to teacher.
