Municipal clerk praised faitee irachen To honor those who bear the title of municipal clerk, all levels of government are being urged to in- troduce legislation calling for the designation of the week of May 10-16, 1981, as "Municipal Clerk's Week". The International Institute of Municipal Clerks, representing thousands of our nation's most time- honored __ professional public servants, en- dorses and recommends such recognition and itself sets aside this special week in honor of those who daily serve the principals of ef- ficient and effective local government. We wish at this time to give recognition to our own municipal Clerk, Mr. Alex Hancox, for all the hard work he has done to keep our village running smoothly for | the last six years. i Port McNicoll Recreation Board is putting on a teen dance at the Legion, from 7 pin to 10) pm: oan Fri., May 15, for 10-17 year-olds. | Admission price is $1 per person. As usual the teen dance is to be well chaperoned, with prizes and lots of fun. The Recreation Board will also be holding a Community Bon' Fire at Paradise Point on Saturday, May 23, at 8 p.m. This is free ad- mission and the whole family is invited. A few guitar players and singers have volunteered to provide the entertainment for the evening's festivities, so do plan on attending. This should be a good family outing. Our Port MeNicoll Cubs played a game of baseball last week with the Lafontaine Cub Pack. Our boys emerged the victors, winning by a score of 12- 4, Lafontaine was kind enough to invite our boys to play this game and afterwards treated everyone to ice-cream bars. On May 22-24, the Port MeNicoll Cubs will be off to Camp Awenda for a weekend of - fun? Fighting off black flies and mosquitoes (if it's not pouring rain), cooking their own meals (burnt wieners and beans, most likely), with no faithful mom to wash up afterwards. Well, I guess if you're a Cub with lots of excess energy to burn, a weekend camp-out is lots of fun. Four leaders and 16 boys will be leaving the school at about 6 p.m. on the Friday. While the Cubs are away, they will be doing some work on their Woodsman Badge and their Black Star, this as they take a nature hike through the bush. There will be wood gathering, cooking, cleaning up, setting and taking down tents, camp fire sing-songs, among other things, which will keep the boys busy and amused. Cherry Hancox, our Port McNicoll Librarian, has made up a "Thermometer" which she will fill in each month as the donations come in for our new library building. To date, the Port MeNicoll Library Board has received $2,600 in donations. Port MeNicoll Public School primary grade teachers would like to thank all the parents who donated baked goods for the Bake Sale held at the school last week during the Art Fair. It was a great success and the proceeds will be used to defray expenses for future field trips planned for the primary department.
