Councils waiting on ministry For the moment Penetanguishene and Tiny Township are in a holding pattern in their discussion of Tiny Township's zoning of its land along the highway between Midland and Penetanguishene. As of midweek the opinion of the Ministry of Housing on the proposed amendment to the area Official Plan, Official Plan amendment 23, which covers the disputed area, had not been heard of, town planner Paul Hodgins said. Representatives of the two municipalities agreed after their first, closed meeting that they would wait for the arrival of the ministry's opinion before setting a date for a second meeting. Tiny Township had been told that the opinion would be in hand within two weeks that ran out Wednesday. Free wash at dock next week During the local Hire-a-Student Week, next week in Penetanguishene and Midland, drivers who take their vehicles to the town dock next Thursday afternoon can have their windshields washed for free, courtesy of the Student Employment Centre. Mayor Ron Bellisle and Midland Mayor Moreland Lynn are scheduled to open the week at the Bay Street, Midland office of the area Student Employment Centre, on Monday at 10 a.,m. Museum opens for summer on Monday The Penetanguishene Centennial Museum opens for its 14th year on Monday, Fran Sullivan, this year's curator, announced this week. The hours' for the municipal museum through the summer season are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. Campaign reaches $22,000 in N. Simcoe The final figures are in from last month's Salvation Army Red Shield Campaign in North Simcoe. Nancy Keefe of Midland, the campaign committee's chairlady, reports $22,000 was raised. This year's target was $25,000.
