In favour were Councillors Platt, Jeffery, Blake, Orr and Ross. Against were Mayor Lynn, Deputy Reeve Day and Councillor Hennin. End Strike Town council supported a motion to inform the federal government that it should act to end the postal strike. Council was told by the mayor that he knows of one Midland business employing 50 people that is losing $20,000 a day because of the postal strike. Highway's number A letter was received from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications in- forming Deputy-Clerk Fred Flood that the matter of the town's request that Highway 27 between Waverley and Penetanguishene be renumbered has been placed on the agenda of the Highway Numbering Committee. The next meeting of the Highway Num- bering Committee will be in September. A councillor suggested the three municipalities involved should have representatives at the meeting. The letter was referred to the next public works committee meeting.
