Good Brothers highlight Festival Canada's largest one day Bluegrass Festival, the Collingwood Pepsi-Cola Bluegrass Festival and Banjo Contest will start at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9, and run a full 12 hours, packed with fun, excitement and some of the finest banjo pickin' heard anywhere. The Festival Site at the Blue Mountain Foundation Concert Shell, nestled at the foot of Blue Mountain Ski Resort is perfect for a concert of this type. This year's festival is headlined by the Good Brothers, Canada's finest Country Rock Band. The Brothers Good, Bruce, Brain and Larry are backed by an exciting band that never fails to move audiences. Although the Goods have strayed from the pure Country- Bluegrass Sound of their early days, they are certain to get back to their roots at '"THEIR"' concert in Collingwood. Making their first appearance at Collingwood this year will be "Cement City" a group originally from Sudbury who play a wonderful mixture of Bluegrass, Country Rock, Western Swing and Good Time Jazz. Last summer they played as an opening act for Willie Nelson. This summer they plan on blowing away the Collingwood audience. Edward, Harding and McLean are the Festival's change of pace, these boys are returning for the third time and are always a big hit. Their vocal harmony and off the wall versions of 30's and 40's standards are a joy to the ear. Canadian Bluegrass is synonymous with the names Denis LePage and Station Road. Denis who was the World's Champion Five String Banjo Picker in 1976 leads this hard driving Bluegrass band that is both exciting and technically excellent. The Dixie Flyers have also returned this year, bringing their unique blend of Comedy and Music that is always exciting but most of all fun! The Humber River Valley Boys are another group that will feel right at home in the Beautiful Blue Mountain Glade that is the setting for this concert. The Humbers are a tight hand with their own special Bluegrass sound. They have just returned from a suc- cessful tour to Western Canada. Pulse Creek joins us again this year. This band came to look and listen for the first year, asked for a chance to play, became instant favorites and are making their third ap- pearance. Pulse Creek's vocals are a com- plete knockout. Rudy Meeks "The Master" will bring his fiddle and banjo to supply a solid set of old time traditional music to this years festival. Rudy is the World's Champion Old Time Fiddler having taken the crown both in Nash- ville and at Shelbourne. Rudy is a highlight © wherever he plays. Lorne Buck and Bluegrass Jam will be featured twice during the day, first during the opening "Gospel Hour" and later in the af- ternoon. Steve Paskin, local Collingwood Banjo Picker, adds a lot of fire to the '"Jams" laid back easy sound. Clean Sweep a realatively new Kitchener- based group brings a fine traditional Bluegrass sound. The Collingwood Bluegrass Festival is very proud to announce the appearance of Mountain Rain, a Bluegrass Gospel group from Brantford, Ontario who will be featured during our "Gospel Hour". Do yourself a favour, come early and don't miss this group! Tickets are available in advance at $6 for adults and $3 for kids under 12 and over 65.
