Dr. Garry in costume Perrault top scor Jesse Perrault finished the lacrosse season in Midland as the top point getter for A.E. LePage novice lacrosse team, having scored 49 goals and gotten 12 assists for 61 points. Perrault also had the second highest total for minutes in penalties with 42. He was ex- ceeded in that department by Jamie Peden with 50. The player with the second highest point total was David Chalmers with 40 goals and 14 assists for 54 points while Chris Walzer had 21 goals and 12 assists for 33 points and third in points. Clubs entered in the championship will be made up of players 18-20 years old and the teams will be from _ four provinces in Canada: Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia and Alberta. It may have been because of the weather or because of the early date but only 47 kids signed up. Next registration day will be Sept. 12 in Midland Centennial Arena from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. Registration fees for the upcoming season are $50 for one boy, $90 for two boys and $120 for three or more boys. other members of the Canadian Team present to perform. The tournament will be played on a round robin basis with games at 1 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Admission for the event is set at $2.50 per game for adults or $5 a day. $1,000 prize Therrien's tourney is set for Saturday Eight teams will be playing for $1,000 in prize money Saturday at the main ball diamond in Midland when the third annual Midland Therrien's Invitational Ladies' Softball Tournament gets underway at 9 a.m. Competing in the tournament will be Ivy, Newmarket, Queen's Hotel of Barrie, Gough's Ladies of Toronto, Glenfield, Penetanguishene Ladies All-Stars, Toronto Oilers and Collingwood. Because Penetanguishene Stoneleigh Pontiettes will be away at provincial playoffs in Oakville the day of the Midland tour- nament, the Penetanguishene All-Star team will be comprised of players from Penetanguishene Canadian Legion Branch 68 and Penetanguishene G & C. First place team in the tournament will receive $500 in prize money with the runners- up collecting $200. Consolation winners will also win $200 and the runners-up there will win $100.
