The group was rained out of last Saturday's action in Barrie but travelled to Flam- borough Speedway Sunday for the Triple Fifties, a better class of racing with higher purses and _ stiffer competition. Gunter Schmidt now fifth in Molyslip series Gunter Schmidt of Midland is presently in fifth place in the Molyslip racing Series after racing in Nova Scotia this past weekend. Schmidt finished third in his class in his 'modified Volkswagen Scirocco in a pack of 28 cars. In that race, he attained speeds of 110 miles an hour and had an average speed of 65 miles an hour over the 1.6 mile track with 11 corners making Late in the race, Schmidt had a three minute pitstop when his throttle return spring broke, putting him behind his anticipated first place. Schmidt will be leaving for Sanair, Quebec next Friday for the next race in the Molyslip Series, the races being held next Saturday and Sunday. ANAF win The Angels came back Monday evening to win a decisive victory over ANAF in Barrie to continue their winning ways. Elmvale defeated their opposition by a 4-1 score and were led by Deb Smith who scored a single, a triple, managed one RBI andscored two runs. She also played a strong game behind the plater Tricia Downey managed a single, a triple and two RBI's while Deb Charman hit a double. JoAnne McGinnis once again was strong on the mound allowing only two hits and the win keeps the team in first place with only one league match remaining. Robillard with singles. In the other semi-final series, the third place team, Stewart's Gulf Jr. Oilers also came on big to beat Penetang IGA, the second place team, by a 3- 1 score. Scoring for Stewart's were Keith Maracle, Brian McReynolds and Paul MclIntaggart. David Robillard scored the only goal for Penetang IGA. Both those series will continue Monday night in Penetanguishene Arena, games at 8:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. the conclusion of the race. Martin Kraftscik with one home run and Chris Kinnear with two, supplied the home run punch for Jim Morrison's gang. At diamond three, there was another squeaker as Bourgeois Controversy ends in game cancellation A sudden controversy between Hillsdale and Midland in Simcoe Rural Fastball action caused cancellation: of the first match of the best-of-five series 'D' play-off, mid-way through the game last week, with the score sitting at three all.. The controversy has yet to be explained but a special meeting called to deal with the problem ended with the match being discounted and the series set to start again. As a result, the first match was played last night, with highlights too late for this paper while the second game of the series has been scheduled for Monday night in Hillsdale. Action will get un- derway there at 7 p.m. The third game is set to go Wednesday night, again in Hillsdale and once more beginning at 7 p.m. In the series "A"' play-off between Vasey and Elmvale, the best- of-seven finals third match went in Vasey last night. Again results were too late for todays edition but will be carried next week. The next game in the series will.go in Elm- vale Monday night and action will commence at 8 p.m. Lucky winner Jackie Gauthier, cashier at roller skating held Sunday, Wednesday and Friday in Penetanguishene Arena, left, presented this 10-speed bicycle to Michael Robitaille of Perkinsfield, right, earlier this week.
