Entitled Impact 81- Accent on Com- munications, the con- ference consists of 12 different workshops headed by specialists in the various areas of communication. Featured guest speakers Dini Petty, co- anchor for Toronto's City Pulse News on CITY-TV, and Ken LeMaire who operates Comm-Can Training in Toronto, will also take part in the conference. Petty will speak on "The Importance of Communication", and LeMaire will discuss "Accent on Dialogue". The conference is being organized and presented by the Barrie and CHAY Clubs of Toastmistress Inter- national, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Division of Georgian College. Conference Coordi- nator, Nancy Draper says the Toastmistress motto, "To Achieve Greater Understanding Throughout the World Through Better Com- munication", sums up the purpose of the conference. "It is also giving our members the opportunity to put their organizational skills to work, and it will help members of the com- munity to improve their communication skills."' Pre-registration is requested to help insure workshop selection as attendance in some workshops is limited to 30 people. Registrations will also be accepted at the door, but early registration will help the organizers plan adequate _--_shceduling. The conference fee is $15 and $10 for senior citizens. A buffet len- cheon is included. The conference will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. followed by the opening and an address by Mr. LeMaire. Beginning at 10:30 a.m., participants will attend one pre- selected workshop from among the following topics: Good Report Writing, with Donna Douglas, journalist, teacher and mother. She is a former editor of the Barrie Banner, presently operating her own business, Donna Douglas Editorial Services. Mrs. Douglas is a part-time instructor for Georgian College and the Ministry of Social Services. Goal Setting, with Les Cooke, President of L.E. Cooke & Associates, Barrie. Mr. Cooke has more than 40 years of leadership experience in the management consulting field.
