The program ¢on- cerns the hiring of a full- time energy con- servation auditor who would direct energy conservation efforts in Penetanguishene, 80 per cent of wages for such a hiring being provided by the provincial govern- ment. Normally, under the program, county of regional municipalities are expected to apply on behalf of a number of municipalities in the area but town council passed an amendment, Monday night, that would give the area planning board the right to handle such an ap- plication. The provincial grant would pay a person qualified in a related field such as engineering or _ ar- chitecture of en- vironmental _ planning up to $20,000 per annum for the first year, $18,000 for the second year and $15,000 for the third year. If the Tiny Tay Peninsula Planning Board were to accept the responsibility of submitting the ap- plication and it were accepted, an energy conservation auditor could effectively be shared by the. six municipalities housed by the planning board. However. if the area planning board does not wish to handle the ap- plication, Penetangu- ishene will have to rely on Simcoe County SAVE 30°x. or Up to $7.00 per turkey.
