y Special tribute A dinner was held at Midland Legion Sept. 30 in honour of _ the athletes from the Adult Rehabilitation Centre in Midland and Huron Park Public School in Midland that competed in the Special Olympics in Ottawa. That statement by Ross Spearns, resource person for the '"'Enjoying Your Preschooler'"" program held in Midland- Penetanguishene every year, sums up the philosophy behind that program. The program will again be starting Oct. 14 at Midland Civic Centre and will run' every Wednesday morning for eight weeks from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. A maximum of 15 applicants will be ac- cepted for the program with the criteria for registration being first come, first serve. Admission for the program is $5 and you can register at Midland YMCA or the Contact Centre on First Street in Midland. An assistant activity leader will also be helping with the program but so far, no one has volunteered for that position. The hour and a half of each "week will' be broken into six I5- minute segments which start off with a creative play time for mother and child, followed by a 15-minute group activity time. After that will come a discussion time for the mothers while the children are kept busy by the assistant activity leader. Mothers and children will then be re-united for a craft session in which the two are encouraged to work together on some craft. A short snack time follows that and the day ro $300 schedule below.
