Gervais Georgian Club Senior Citizens held their monthly business meeting on Nov. 5 in the Recreation Room of the Royal Canadian Legion. President Frank Murphy opened the meeting. First Vice President Mrs. Lillian Reid gave an excellent report of the Simcoe County Senior Citizens' annual meeting held in Georgian College Barrie. Six members of this group had attended. Secretary Mrs. Nell Johnson reported a coming Euchre Tournament at Balm Beach and Mrs. Hilda Savage told of a Bus shopping trip to Sara Lea Cake Factory and on_to Bramalea Shopping Centre on Nov. 18 leaving the Legion Hall at 8:30. Two new members were welcomed. Reports were given by Social Convenor Mrs. Mabel Despin; Euchre by Mrs. Delia Murphy; lea! Citizens Housing Mrs. Dorothy 2 eae A motion was carried that $35 be donated to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Legion for the Village children's Christmas Party also that $200 be donated to the Sunset Branch No. 523 for the use of the Hall for our meetings. M.L. Latondress reminded everyone of the Senior Citizen's games at St. John's Church Hall Monday afternoons shuf- fleboard, carpet bowling, and darts. Our annual Christmas Party was discussed and it was decided the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Legion would put on a dinner with the mem- bers paying half the cost and the Club paying the other. There would also be a gift exchange. Mrs. G. Anderson told of overnight trips to be taken in the spring. Following adjournment euchre was enjoyed with prize winners being; Mrs. Marie Anderson, Mr. Nelson Anderson, for high scores and Mrs. Anna Nuis and Mr. Jos. Cormier for most lone hands. Approximately 45 members and guests enjoyed a roast beef dinner. Dancing Seniors meet followed. Guest speaker was past and present Governor Lion Carm Cowan. Other Lion Officials were present from Midland Elmvlae and Barrie. Remembrance Day was observed at the morning service in St. John's United Church on Sunday morning. It was opened with the singing of O Canada. The theme of the sermon by the minister Rev. Wesley Oake was The National Dream. Flowers placed in the sanctuary were in memory of Mr. Ray Smith of Midland, placed by the family. PVP?
