Howard Jackson, our past district com- missioner was one of the eight Scouters who were recognized for "Especially Distinguished Service to Scouting." The Silver Acorn was awarded at an in- vestiture conducted by the Lieutenant- Governor of Ontario, The Honourable John B. Aird, at Queen's Park on Sept. 18, 1981. Howard Jackson has been a resident of Midland for four years and has been a great | asset to Scouting in South Georgian Bay District. Our congratulations to you Howard! On November 27, 28 & 29, South Georgian Bay District will be holding their first patrol leader and assistant patrol leader workshop at Camp Wilderman. This is a leadership training weekend for the Scouts. Purpose of the workshop is to provide training so the boys will be able to identify their goals, recognize and develop their skills in giving leadership. The Port MecNicoll Venturers will be providing an instruction in camp craft skills for the Scouts. It will be an enjoyable weekend for all! On Nov. 22, at St. Margaret's Church, 2nd Midland Scout Group had a church parade officiated by Father Sommerville. Gilles Brisson, David Durtnall, Larry Radko, Steve Rothwell and Father Som- merville were invested into Boy Scouts of Canada. The Elmvale boys were representing Georgian Bay. And on Nov. 14, Margaret Belcourt of Elmvale was a winner in a draw held during the Our Lady of Lourdes CWL bazaar and tea.
