Talented people Crafts Guild in the spotlight this month... Saturday, Dec. 5 is going to bea busy day in Midland. First of all the Midland Civitan Club will be staging its an- nual Santa Claus Parade. Secondly the Huronia Crafts Guild will be holding its very Own show at the Yonge Street West Civic Centre in the town. The craft show promises to be a major event in its own right. Craft guild members have also been assisting members of the Midland Y's Men's Club. in providing works of art for the club's annual art and antique auction. That event, set for Friday Nov. 27, is to be held at Ste. Marie among the Hurons. You'll be able to browse from 7 p.m. until 8:15 p.m. when the actual auction is held. Last year the club's auction produce about $10,000 of which $4,500 was turned over to the club for its many public service projects. Getting back to the Huronia Crafts guild, it boasts three dizen members and is steadily growing. Members _ include- 1. Paul Rollinson -- President, Treasurer, Odd Copy Book Shop, Old Fort Road, Midland. Paul sells books of all kinds and ages. 2. Ruth Fowler Vice President, Box 722, Midland. Ruth is a sculptor in clay of "Little People'. 3. Karley MacAr- thur -- Secretary, Canadian Crafts Gift Shop, Hwy 27, Wyebridge. Karley and Bruce are involved in selling area crafts. Bruce is a potter and Karley does com- mission drawings. 4. Claudette La Croix, 414 Frederick St., Midland. Claudette is a weaver, a_ clothing maker and makes beautiful homemade soaps. 5. Hilda Sibthorpe, RR 1, Wyebridge. Hilda is both a _ quilting teacher and maker of lovely quilted articles, from quilts to jackets. 6. Ruth Larmand, 22 Burke Sa. Penetanguishene. Two vehicles roll in Tiny 'Iwo traffic accidents, one weather-related, occurred in_ Tiny Township last Friday. At around 2:50 a.m., James Robitaille, 20, of Country Club Court, Penetanguishene, westbound on Cook's Lake Road, one kilometer west of Tim Court Road, was slightly injured when his vehicle went off a curve. The vehicle rolled over in the ditch. Robitaille was charged with careless driving. In the early evening of the same day, on Tiny Township Con. 16, just east of County Road 26, Yves Blouin and three passengers were shaken when their vehicle skidded off the road, into a ditch, and onto its roof. In the car, in addition to the driver, Blouin, of Robert Street W., Penetanguishene, were Louis Vaillancourt, 17, Claude Beausoleil, 15, and Jennifer Leduc, 15, all of Penetanguishene. No charges were laid. Snow was falling at the time, the OPP reports. Stereo components recovered Two Midland men have been charged with the theft of stereo components taken on Nov. 10 from Tilson TV in the A.E. LePage Mall. Charged with theft over $200 are Edward Moreau, 16, of Seventh Street, and Patrick Hamelin, 20, of Smith's Camp. The two com- ponents, worth $930, were recovered. Elmvale first on SCBE list Elmvale District High School is at the top of the Simcoe County Board of Education's list of building projects to be submitted to the Ministry of Education for approval. The board is asking the ministry to approve a 1983 start for a $885,000 addition to EDHS. Second for approval on the list is an elementary school for Barrie in the Riverwood Farms area; third, an elementary school for Bradford. The board is also asking for approval to start building these schools in 1983 and projecting a cost of $1.4 million for eachschool. Last on the list is a request for approval in 1983 for a 1984 start of a school in Alliston. EDHS has been on the SCBE list for several years, but this is the first time EDHS has lead the list. Car had flashers on A driver who drove into the rear of another car stopped with its four-way flashers working has' been charged by Midland town police with a seat belt law violation, and careless driving. R.R.1, Midland resident Gladys Bryant, 59, was stopped in front of 838 King St., Tuesday just before 6 p.m. to allow her passenger, Carol Mcllravey, who lives at that address, to get out of her car.
