On the Hill Convoy of Anger attracts 100,000 It has been estimated that as many as 100,000 angry Canadians converged on Parliament Hill last Saturday during a "'Convoy of Anger."' They came by cars, buses, trains and planes to vent their anger and frustration at mounting mortgage interest rates. About 250 of those who attended the peaceful protest came from the Midland-Orillia area, reports co-founder of L.I.V.E., Stan Dion of Midland. L.1.V.E., a group Dion and his wife co-founded several months ago and which stands for Lower Interest (Rates) Vital (To) Economy was one of the very first groups in the nation to call the federal government's attention to the plight of men and women who risk losing their homes because they can't meet increased mortgage payments. Calling their message, "A message of despair", protestors built bonfires on the Hill to keep warm as speaker after speaker demanded something be done to curb what they see is run-away inflation. Dion called the rally '"'fantastic."' He added, 'I think the government has and is getting the message. Any time you can get 100,000 people together then the government has to listen." The Midland man predicted more protests can be expected 'if Trudeau doesn't listen to the people." By the way, it has been reported that at least 700 buses transported many of the protestors to Ottawa.
