Gymnastics Corner by Ken St. Amant. In this article I would like to conclude our discussion on the gymnasts who will be representing the Hurons this weekend in Toronto. The remaining four girls are all in the Argo category. This division is for gymnasts who are under 12 years of age as of Jan. 1 of the competitive season. The Argo category has three divisions. Argo 'C' is for gymnasts who are competing in Ontario Gymnastics Federation for the first time. We have three girls in this level. They are Arlene Merkley, Norma Milligan and Chris Turner. The Argo 'B' division is for gymnasts who are in their second or third year of competition at the OGF level. Gabi Held will be representing the club in this category. We have no one in the Argo 'A' division. Competitors This is Arlene's first year of competition at the OGF level, therefore she is in the 'C' category. Presently, this 11-year-old attends St. Anne Separate School in Penetanguishene. Arlene has been with the Hurons for three years and was involved in gymnastics at a Corpus Christi Public School before joining the club. She has competed in many school meets as well as many pre-competitive meets. Because of her athletic ability she is also actively involved in other sports such as volleyball, baseball and swimming. Norma Milligan is also in the Argo 'C' category because this is her first year of competition at the provincial level. This 10- year-old gymnast is in Grade 5 at Huron Park Public School in Midland. Although this is her second year with the club, she has made great progress in a very short period of time. Norma has limited meet experience being involved in only a few school and pre- competitive meets. This weekend is going to be a real challenge for her. We have con- fidence that she will do extremely well. The youngest gymnast we have travelling to Toronto this weekend is Chris Turner. At nine years of age this redhead has done very well indeed. This is only her second year of gymnastics and she has done very well in order to be selected for the competitive section of our club. This hard-working Grade 4 student attends Victoria Harbour Public School. Like most of our gymnasts she is involved in many other activities as well. For example, she plays the piano and loves swimming. Our most experienced gymnast in the Argo category is Gabi Held. Because of this ex- perience she must compete at the 'B' level. Gabi is in Grade 5 at Corpus Christi Public School. This 11-year-old is in her third year of competition. Last season she did very well placing seventh in the Metro-West region. She also qualified as an alternate for the provincial team. We are anticipating that Gabi will have another successful season and make the provincial team once again. We would like to wish all of the competitors the very best of luck for this weekend's meet. GYMNASTIC CALENDAR Dec. 3 -- last night for Advanced, Ist session.
