MSS Midgets hammer Elmvale Bill Richardson scored 12 points to pace the Midland Secondary School Midget Boys' The second round of the Carlings Open was held last Sunday in Barrie with several of our local bowlers taking a good run at making the zone teams. The tenth spot for the men after 20 games was grabbed by Ron Abbot of Barrie with a pinfall of 4670 by rolling a 330 in his last game. Louis Maurice of Penetanguishene missed by only 17 pins with a 4653 total while Bill Puddicomb 4613, Maurice Lacroix 4508 and Maurice Lapensee 4500 were close at different times on Sunday to being in the top 10. Cecile Marion finished 10th for the ladies missing the last qualifying spot by only a few pins with her 20 game total of 4120. Maybe we will have some winners next year as this was the best showing overall by Midland and Penetang bowlers yet. _ This is the last week of the high-low doubles league round so all winners will be known by the weekend. Presidents, Secretaries and Treasurers of leagues affiliated with the Midland-Penetang 5 Pin Association are eligible to bowl in the pins over average tournament. -- Everyone will receive a prize with the major prizes being Christmas turkeys. Minor Midgets suffer loss to Orillia The Midland Stoneleigh Motors Minor Midgets suffered a 3-1 loss to Orillia in Midland Minor Hockey action last Sunday at Midland Arena. The loss was the second of the weekend for the Stoneleigh squad. Saturday, they took a 5-4 loss to Owen Sound after managing to dump Elmvale 6-4 Friday. Marlon Geiseler was the lone Midland goal- getter in Sunday's game.
