Gymnastics anyone? Once again the Hurons will be offering a summer day camp for gymnastics at Corpus Christi Public School in Penetanguishene. We will be offering two programs. The advanced level will be in the morning from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon. The beginners program will be in the afternoon from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The camp will be open to both boys and girls from 5 to 16 years old. Programming For the girls, training on the floor, balance beam, vault and uneven bars will be provided. Along with this, fitness and dance will be taught. Boys have the opportunity to practice on the floor, parallel bars, high bar, vault pommel horse and vault. Physical fitness will also be an important aspect of the program. There will be a limit of 45 gymnasts a session. Judging from last year's program, you'd better plan on registering early. Last year most of our programs had long waiting ts lists. This year we're trying a different approach in respect to the length of time that the program will be in operation: we'll be operating on cycles of two weeks. As a result, there will be four two-week -- sessions. Each session will be as follows: --Session one: Monday, June 28 to Friday, July 9. --Session two: Monday, July 12 to Friday, July 23. --Session three: Monday, July 26 to Friday, August 6. --Session four: Monday, August 8 to Friday, August 20. Participants may sign up for more than one two-week session. Cost will be $25 for each two-week:session. However, if you sign up for two sessions (four weeks) you only pay $45. In addition, there will be a discount of 25 per cent for other family members. If further information is required, please contact John Turner (526-6007) or Ken St. Amant (526-3992). Gymnastic Calendar --Wednesday, June 2: last day for The IUE Sluggers (formerly the Sluggers, then the Chargers, now the Sluggers again -- for good) snapped the Techform Eagles' four- game unbeaten streak with a convincing 23-10 thrashing in Huronia Slow Pitch League action last week. The Sluggers were led by the two-edged swordsmanship of Nick Sager, who pitched the Eagles down and contributed a home run to boot. Butch Bowen also chipped in one homer. In other action, Goman Boats split a pair of games which left them tied for first in the West after Techform's loss. They crushed Bay Mills 23-3 Monday night, handing Bay Mills their fourth straight loss, but were edged out 11-10 by Leitz,on a pair of errors second by their leftfielder in the final inning. Leitz was-led by the pitching of Paul Hen- derson and a towering three-run homer by Dan Henderson. Simcoematic won a pair of games, 6-3 over Steelbrite and 15-6 over the Sluggers, to stay within striking distance of the leaders in the West division. Steelbrite suffered a loss, 11-3 to Eaglesstopped Ogilvie Mills, in a rescheduled rainout game. After their big game of Thursday against Goman Boats, Leitz came up flat and lost to Wilkin's Automotive 11-7 in a closely-fought match. In the only other game, the Weekend Warriors jumped out to a 13-run lead in the top of the first inning and held on to defeat the Donut Villa 19-12. Pro speakers Perry Anderson of the St. Louis Blues and Fred Bomistruck of the Toronto Maple Leafs were the special guests at Wednesday evening's Penetanguishene Minor Hockey Association windup banquet at Penetanguishene Arena. Individual and team awards were presented. during the annual post-season ceremonies.
