Free to those dressed in Centennial Costume and to those wearing official Centennial Pin. Regular admissionrates for others. Join the activities: Enjoy music, drama, historical presentations and naval demonstrations. This is also a unique opportunity for out-of-town visitors to check the descendant's day registry. JUNE 27 GIANT LEGION DRUMHEAD PARADE 11:00 a.m. - Cenotaph. This unique historical marching parade will perform the drumhead celebration at the Cenotaph, then march down Main Street to the dock area, past the reviewing stands for the Sunday drumhead service. A family even, plan to attend. JUNE 27 CENTENNIAL CHURCH SERVICE 11:00 a.m. - First Presbyterian Church. Wear your Centennial Costume and stop for refreshments afterwards. JUNE 27 GIANT SAIL PAST 2:00 p.m. - A spectacular marine event, ending with a family barbecue near the Establishments. Viewing from the town dock. The National Power Squadron Leader as well as Midland and Penetang Squadron Leaders will be on hand to take the sail past salute. JUNE 27-JULY 4 TRENT-SEVERN WATERWAY FLOATING EXHIBIT AND INFORMATION CANADA Two major displays at town dock. From 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily. Free admission. JUNE 28-JULY ? CENTENNIAL SELL-A- BRATION DAYS A giant merchants sale event ending in sidewalk sale days. Come shop downtown Penetanguishene. JUNE 29 POLICEMEN'S CENTENNIAL BIKE RODEO At the Curling Club at 1:00 p.m. Prizes and giveaways for all entrants. Trophies for 6 winners with best decorated bikes will ride in the Saturday Parade. Free refreshemnts movies and pins. 2:30-4:30 Kids Craft Workshop-come and make something special. t . 6:30 p.m. - The Guinness Junior / Teen Challenge. JUNE 30 HERITAGE DAY BANQUET A giant Centennial Banquet for the whole family. An evening of good food and good company. Learn more about our area, our past, and our human resources. Advance tickets, sponsored by your Centennial Committee. Social hour from 5 to 6 p.m., $5.50 per ticket. 6-7:30 Banquet and Centennial Fashion Show. Enjoy a good meal and a review of centennial fashions, hosted by Mary Dubeau. 7:30-8:30 - Recognition Program. Join us in honouring the outstanding contributions from our past. This includes former mayors, local service clubs, sports heroes, including the award winning Junior C Kings and even famous historical guests including Father Le Caron and Etienne Brule. 8:30 - Evening of dancing to the big band sound of The Gil Robillard Band. JULY 1 CKMP GIANT SOAP BOX DERBY 9:00 a.m. on the Main Street Hill, Penetanguishene JULY 1 GIANT FIREWORKS DISPLAY. At McGibbon Point near Curling Club. 45 minute non- stop brilliant and spectacular display will start at dusk. There will be donation buckets at entrances. JULY 2 CENTENNIAL QUILT SALE 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Curling Club, Water Street. Annual Georgian Bay Art Society Exhibition and Sale featuring the works of more than fifteen local artists. Admission free. Centennial Arts and Crafts Exhibition and Sale. During supper time, enjoy barbecued beef prepared by the Country Barbequers. JULY 3 FESTIVAL GARDENS 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. Curling Club, Water Street. Enjoy the lumberjack competition in the friendly atmosphere of our Festival Gardens. The Christie's will be on hand for your listening and dancing pleasure from 8:30 p.m. til 12:30 a.m. Under authority of LLBO. JULY 3 AMATEUR LUMBERJACK COMPETITION 1:30 Curling Club. Be a part of the fascinating lore of the lumberjack. Watch as the competitors battle the clock in such events as the chain saw speed cutting, 2 man cross cut, one man buck saw and log chopping. The heavy weight event of the day will be the log carry. At 2:30 p.m., a special celebrity challenge takes place among Penetanguishene celebrities, area councillors, and news media. Prizes will be presented to winners from all categories and a special award presented to the lumberjack of the day. If anyone is interested in participating, please be at the Curling Club to sign up before 1:25 p.m. Bring your own chain saw. Entry fee $2.00 for participants. JULY 3 GIANT CENTENNIAL PARADE 11:00 a.m. Giant Centennial Parade to mark the end of Centennial Celebration Days. JULY 3 ANTIQUE CAR DAYS 12:30 - 5:00 p.m. Antique Car Days follow the cars to the Curling Club and watch antique steam engines, enjoy antique cars and chat with their owners. 1:00 p.m. Dock Lunch's First Annual Challenge Swim. A 2,000 meter event. Preregistration necessary. All swimmers must be accompanied by two watchers and a canoe or row boat. All day giant barbecue with fresh barbecued beef prepared by the Country Barbequers, Curling Club. JULY 3 BURKEVALE CENTENNIAL DAYS At Burkevale Protestant Separate School on Burke Street. 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Open House, 2:00 p.m. Official opening with guest speaker; 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. refreshments and Open House.
